Nathan Fillion Officially Returning for 'Castle' Season 9, If Renewed

After Stana Katic‘s shocking removal from Castle, co-star Nathan Fillion has inked a new deal that will bring him back for season nine.

ABC has not yet decided whether the show will be picked up for a ninth season, and the network has until today to made their final call, Deadline reports. The season finale is set to air on May 16, and there are two different scenes that could air if the episode is actually the series finale.

Stana was forced to leave the show for budgetary reasons.

Castle's Tamala Jones Talks About Her Exit from the Show

Tamala Jones is opening up in a new interview about her exit from the show Castle.

The 41-year-old actress, along with her co-star Stana Katic, is being let go from the series after eight seasons.

“I actually found out on Friday. I got the call and I didn’t think it was going to be exposed so soon,” Tamala told Access Hollywood. “I thought, ‘Let the fans get through the season and then announce.’ But when it came out I was very much aware. And I feel good. I have had the biggest blessing being on Castle.”

Tamala said she never thought her character would be on the show for so long and was happy to make it to season five for the syndication deal. She also thanked ABC for being a family to her since her first television show.

“Eight is completion and new beginnings, so I think I’ll finish great,” Tamala said about leaving after season eight. “I feel good and if there is a season nine, I would love for the fans to continue to watch because I’ve been a fan the whole time I’ve been on the show. I think it’s an awesome show.”

Many of Stana and Tamala‘s fans have stated on social media that they will not continue watching the show without their characters.

Stana Katic Addresses 'Castle' Exit with a Message to Her Fans

Stana Katic has taken to Twitter after news broke that she would be leaving her hit television show Castle due to “budgetary reasons.”

The 37-year-old actress had a contract, but ABC chose not to renew it. The show has yet to be picked up for a ninth season, but it is expected to be renewed in the coming weeks.

“To the fans: thank you for your support. I love you. 💋✌,” Stana tweeted to her fans moments ago.

Nathan Fillion has released a statement about his long-time co-star Stana Katic leaving Castle for “budgetary reasons.”

Castle has been one of the greatest joys of my creative life, and I hope the show continues on for years to come. Stana has been my partner all this time, and I thank her for creating the character of Beckett who will live on for all of us as one of the greatest police officers on television. I wish her well, and have no doubt she will succeed in everything she pursues. She will be missed,” Nathan wrote on his Twitter account.

Castle has not yet been renewed for a ninth season, but it is expected to return. Stana had signed a one-year contract extension, but ABC decided not to renew.

It’s official – Stana Katic will not be returning as Kate Beckett on Castle for the ninth season, if the show gets picked up as it’s expected to be.

The 37-year-old actress had signed a one-year contract extension for season eight and ABC has decided not to renew her contact due to “budgetary reasons,” according to Deadline.

Tamala Jones, who played Beckett’s best friend, will also not be returning.

“Kate Beckett has been a beloved character on our hit series Castle for the past 8 years. We are grateful for Stana Katic’s talent and dedication to the series and we hope to continue our relationship,” ABC said in a statement. “Tamala Jones has also been an integral part of the series and we are grateful she was a part of Castle.”

“Rather then distract from what was an amazing experience, I would just like to say that I’m very grateful to ABC for giving me the opportunity to be a part of a much beloved show. Thank you to the fans,” Stana said in a statement.

ABC Renews 'Scandal,' 'Grey's Anatomy,' & Four More Dramas!

Great news for fans of a bunch of the dramatic shows on ABC!

Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy, Once Upon a Time, Resurrection, Revenge, and Castle have all been renewed for an additional season.

In addition to these shows, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been giving a second season and another Marvel show will be added to the lineup – Agent Carter starring Hayley Atwell and taking place a year after the events of Captain America: The First Avenger.

The comedy series Modern Family and The Goldbergs have also received renewals!

Other shows that have been picked up are Shonda RhimesHow to Get Away With Murder starring Viola Davis, American Crime starring Felicity Huffman and Timothy Hutton, and the comedy Black-ish starring Anthony Anderson.

Victor Webster: Castle's New Hottie!

Victor Webster is joining the hit ABC show Castle, as Beckett’s (Stana Katic) new love interest.

The 37-year-old actor, who has starred on Melrose Place 2.0, Charmed, and Mutant X, will first appear in this season’s fourth episode when he visits Beckett at the precinct.

“There’s an element of mystery to [his character Josh Davidson],” exec producer Andrew Marlowe tells EW. “He’s more of a motorcycle guy…A person that is going to intrigue Castle, because he’s going to see a different side of Beckett.”
