Dave Franco is making his directorial debut with the new horror film The Rental, which is scheduled to hit select theaters this summer.

The 35-year-old actor and filmmaker’s wife Alison Brie stars in the new film alongside Dan Stevens, Jeremy Allen White, and Sheila Vand.

Here’s a synopsis: Two couples on an oceanside getaway grow suspicious that the host of their seemingly perfect rental house may be spying on them. Before long, what should have been a celebratory weekend trip turns into something far more sinister, as well-kept secrets are exposed and the four old friends come to see each other in a whole new light.

The Rental will be playing in select theaters and drive-ins, as well as on VOD, on July 24.

Directed by Alison‘s husband, Dave Franco, the upcoming film also stars Sheila Vand and Jeremy Allen White.

The Rental centers on two couples who are looking to celebrate their seed money from a new business venture, and embark on a weekend getaway to a seemingly perfect house they’ve booked online.

But what begins as a festive weekend for the four close friends turns into something far more sinister as secrets they’ve kept from each other are exposed and paranoia grows that they may not be alone.

The Rental is expected to release in in theaters and on demand on July 24.

The Broadway play Hangmen, written by Oscar winner Martin McDonagh, has officially ended its run on the Great White Way after only playing 13 preview performances.

Dan Stevens, Tracie Bennett, and more starred in the new play, which won the Olivier Award for Best Play in 2016.

“Because of the current health crisis which has created circumstances beyond our control, it is with deep regret that we are not able to resume performances of Hangmen. With no definite end in sight of the government’s closure and Broadway’s suspension, we have no alternative but to release the actors from their contracts and close the production,” the producers of the show said in a statement.

The statement added, “Given our show’s budget and capitalization, we do not have the economic resources to be able to continue to pay the theater owners, cast and crew through this still undefined closure period. Therefore, in the interests of all involved, we regretfully have no choice but to close the show. We are all extremely disappointed that we cannot give Martin McDonagh and our fabulous director, cast and team the celebrated opening they all deserve.”

All Broadway shows were shut down on March 13 and the intended return date was going to be April 12, but the shows likely will not return that early.

Dan Stevens and Mark Addy made sure to snap a photograph together at the Broadway photo call and press conference for Hangmen in New York City.

This is McDonagh’s first play on Broadway since the success of the BAFTA- and Golden Globe–winning movie Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

Hangmen is described as follows: “England 1965 — What is Britain’s (second most) famous executioner to do now that hanging has been abolished? The simple answer is a lot more than he bargained for. In his small pub in the northern English town of Oldham, Harry is something of a local celebrity and the cub reporters and pub regulars are dying to hear Harry’s reaction to the news, while his old assistant Syd and the mysterious Mooney lurk with very different motives for their visit.”

“Less news, more noose. Leave your hangups at the door, (g)allow yourself to be roped in, come suspend your disbelief, and no necking in the back row… 💛🖤💛🖤 #sundaypunday,” Dan Stevens captioned about Hangmen in his recent Instagram post.

Hangmen will make its Broadway debut at the Golden Theatre beginning February 28 ahead of a March 19 opening.

Harrison Ford befriends an adorable pup in the new trailer for Call of the Wild!

The 77-year-old actor and his furry friend embark on an epic adventure in the new visual, released on Wednesday (November 20).

Here’s the synopsis: “The Call of the Wild vividly brings to the screen the story of Buck, a big-hearted dog whose blissful domestic life is turned upside down when he is suddenly uprooted from his California home and transplanted to the exotic wilds of the Alaskan Yukon during the Gold Rush of the 1890s.”

It continues, “As the newest rookie on a mail delivery dog sled team–and later its leader–Buck experiences the adventure of a lifetime, ultimately finding his true place in the world and becoming his own master.”

Directed by Chris Sanders and based on the novel by Jack London, the film also stars Dan Stevens, Omar Sy, Karen Gillan, Bradley Whitford, and Colin Woodell.

Aubrey Plaza and Dan Stevens hit the red carpet together at the season three premiere of Legion on Thursday night (June 13) at the ArcLight in Hollywood, Calif.

The 34-year-old former Parks & Rec star looked pretty in a green, floral-print dress while the 36-year-old Beauty & the Beast actor sported a bright, red suit for the premiere of the show’s final season.

Fellow cast members at the premiere included Rachel Keller, Amber Midthunder, and Hamish Lanklater along with his longtime love Lily Rabe.

Back in March, the show’s creator opened up about the final season at 2019 WonderCon.

Season three of Legion premieres on FX on Monday, June 24th at 10pm ET.
