Kesha's Mom Details Years of Abuse By Dr. Luke: He 'Almost Destroyed Us'

Kesha‘s mother Rosemary Patricia “Pebe” Sebert has given a tell-all interview about her daughter and the years of abuse she allegedly endured working with producer Dr. Luke.

“She was a prisoner. It was like someone who beats you every day and hangs you from a chain and then comes in and gives you a piece of bread. Luke would say, ‘You look nice today,’ and send her into hysterics of happiness because she was programmed to expect nothing but abuse,” Pebe told Billboard about her 29-year-old daughter. “Kesha‘s allowed to work with another producer. But Luke gets to approve them. He gets to approve of anyone she works with. He has final say over everything….Luke almost destroyed us. And he has done it intentionally.”

“I wanted Kesha to come forward a long time ago and end this relationship with Dr. Luke immediately after the [alleged] rape. But if she wanted to have a shot at the music business, she had no choice but [to work with him],” Pebe stated about why Kesha continued to work with Dr. Luke. “He saw her as a cash cow and started manipulating her all the time. She thought all her dreams were finally coming true, but this was just a f–ing trip to hell.”

“Bulimia is a control issue,” Pebe continued about Kesha‘s downward spiral. “I really believe that the further this thing got with Dr. Luke, the less control she had and the worse her bulimia got, because it was the only thing [that gave her] control.” Pebe details one incident where Dr. Luke called Kesha a “fat f–ing refrigerator.”

Kesha is so much better now,” Pebe reported. “She wasn’t comfortable with having to do this, but I think she realized as this thing progressed that she can advocate for sexual abuse or other things. The fact that she is at peace with that has really been healing.”

Adding about Taylor Swift‘s $250,000 donation, Pebe said, “It was really random. Kesha was like, ‘Are you sure it’s not some scammer?’ And then she said, ‘I would be honored if she wants to do that.’”

Kesha has accused Dr. Luke of sexual assault during their years of collaboration, and a judge recently ruled that she could not get out of her contract.

Dr. Luke to Be Dropped By Sony Amid Kesha Legal Battle & Accusations (Report)

Sony Music is expected to drop Dr. Luke from his contract a year before expiring, sources have apparently told The Wrap.

Kesha has accused Dr. Luke of sexual assault during their years of collaboration, and a judge recently ruled that she could not get out of her contract.

“There is no contest. Kesha has no case in regards to her contract but they can’t afford the Adeles of the world out in the streets calling the label unsupportive,” a source said about the situation. “The fact that this hasn’t already been taken care of with Luke is confusing, especially for people in the building.”

Kesha has received lots of celebrity support from Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Demi Lovato, Adele, and more.

Sony had no comment on the matter.

Kelly Clarkson Clarifies Dr. Luke 'Blackmail' Comment, He Responds

Kelly Clarkson has taken to her Twitter account to clarify her comment about being blackmailed by her label into working with Dr. Luke.

“Want to clarify that my current regime at @RCARecords is not the same one who forced me to work w/ Dr. Luke. Peter Edge is rad & a good dude!” the 33-year-old singer tweeted.

Dr. Luke‘s team was contacted by Digital Spy to ask for a comment on Kelly‘s statement. His spokesperson responded by sending an excerpt from Sony Music exec Clive Davis‘ book.

In the book, Clive wrote about how Kelly did not have a good experience working on “Since U Been Gone” and “Behind These Hazel Eyes” with Luke, though the songs turned out to be big hits.

Kelly Clarkson Says She Was Blackmailed Into Working with Dr. Luke

Kelly Clarkson is opening up about her experience working with producer Dr. Luke and she doesn’t really have good things to say about him.

“He’s not a good person to me. We’ve clashed, but I can’t really say anything other than that,” the 33-year-old singer said on Australia’s Kyle and Jackie O radio show.

Some of Kesha‘s fans have criticized Kelly for not sticking up for the singer during her legal battle with the producer.

“Her fans are like, ‘Oh, why don’t you stand up for her?’ I wasn’t there. I don’t know what happened specifically in their situation. Obviously I wasn’t in the room. But I can remark on his character,” Kelly said. “Unfortunately when you have that poor of character, like so many artists don’t like you and don’t like working with you. You know, that’s not normal. I get along with everybody I work with. He’s just not a good guy for me.”

“Obviously he’s a talented dude, but he’s lied a lot. I’ve run into a couple of really bad situations, musically. It’s really hard for me because he’ll just lie to people, and it makes the artist look bad,” Kelly continued. “He’s kind of difficult to work with and kind of demeaning. It’s just kind of unfortunate.”

Some of the songs that Kelly has worked on with Luke include “Since U Been Gone,” “Behind These Hazel Eyes,” and most recently, “My Life Would Suck Without You” in 2009.

“The last time I worked with him, I only worked with him because literally I got blackmailed by my label,” Kelly said. “They were like, ‘We will not put your album out if you don’t do this.’ It was a really hard time for me. And I tried to make the best of the situation.”

Sony Breaks Silence on Kesha & Dr. Luke Case for First Time

Sony Music is speaking out for the first time about the Kesha and Dr. Luke case.

The 28-year-old singer is currently trying to get out of her record contract with her alleged abuser’s label Kemosabe Records, which is a subsidiary of Sony.

“Sony has made it possible for Kesha to record without any connection, involvement or interaction with Luke whatsoever, but Sony is not in a position to terminate the contractual relationship between Luke and Kesha,” the company’s attorney, Scott A. Edelman, told The New York Times. “Sony is doing everything it can to support the artist in these circumstances, but is legally unable to terminate the contract to which it is not a party.”

When Kesha signed her record contract with Dr. Luke in 2005, it was between her and his company Kasz Money. He later formed a distribution deal with Sony’s subsidiary RCA/Jive in 2009, which brought Kesha to the label.

When RCA/Jive dissolved two years later, Kesha‘s contract transferred over to Kemosabe Records, according to Billboard.
