Empire's Jussie Smollett Performs At GLAAD Gala San Francisco

Jussie Smollett suits up for the 2015 GLAAD Gala held at the Hilton San Francisco on Saturday night (November 7) in San Francisco, Calif.

The 32-year-old Empire star performed on stage before YouTube personality Tyler Oakley was honored with Davidson/Valentini Award, which is presented to an LGBT media professional who has made a significant difference in promoting equality for the LGBT community.

“just made it to the #GLAADGala, feeling so much love, meeting so many LGBTQ+ icons, & seeing so many familiar faces. love this community!” Tyler wrote on Twitter ahead of the awards ceremony.

Transgender teen Jazz Jennings also spoke at the event.

Mo'ne Davis Wins Best Breakthrough Athlete at ESPYs 2015

Mo’ne Davis holds her trophy while accepting her award on stage at the 2015 ESPY Awards on Wednesday night (July 15) at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

The 14-year-old Little League Baseball player won the award for Best Breakthrough Athlete at the show. She beat out New York Giants football player Odell Beckham Jr., Ohio State Buckeyes player Cardale Jones, and PGA golfer Jordan Spieth.

Also making an appearance at the event were former Dancing With the Stars contestant Amy Purdy and 14-year-old transgender activist Jazz Jennings.
