NBA Player Jeremy Lin Has Nicest Comeback to Kenyon Martin Slamming His Deadlocks

Current Brooklyn Nets player Jeremy Lin is sporting new dreads and former Nets player Kenyon Martin slammed the basketball star for the new look.

“Do I need to remind this damn boy that his last name Lin?” Martin said in a video posted to his Instagram account. “Like, come on man. Let’s stop this, man, with these people, man. There is no way possible that he would have made it on one of our teams with that bulls— goin’ on on his head. Come on man, somebody need to tell him, like, ‘All right bro, we get it. You wanna be black.’ Like, we get it. But the last name is Lin.”

Jeremy wrote a comment on the Instagram post and it was totally the nicest comeback… ever.

“Hey man. It’s all good you don’t have to like my hair and definitely entitled to your opinion. Actually [I'm] legit grateful you sharin it tbh. At the end of the day I appreciate that I have dreads and you have Chinese tattoos [because] I think it’s a sign of respect,” Jeremy wrote. “And I think as minorities, the more we appreciate each other’s cultures, the more we influence mainstream society. Thanks for everything you did for the Nets and hoops… had your poster up on my wall growin up.”

As Jeremy mentioned, Kenyon has tattoos of Chinese characters on his arm.

Jeremy also wrote an essay about his dreads, which you can read on

Jeremy Lin Upset By Oscar Joke About Asians

He joked that the company “sent us their most dedicated, accurate and hard working representatives,” when introducing the children posing as bankers.

Jeremy didn’t agree with the joke and took to his Twitter to share his thoughts.

“Seriously though, when is this going to change?!? Tired of it being ‘cool’ and ‘ok’ to bash Asians smh #Oscars,” Jeremy wrote.

Jeremy Lin Covers 'GQ' November 2012

Jeremy Lin suits up for the cover of GQ‘s November 2012 issue, on newsstands October 23.

Here is what the 24-year-old Houston Rockets basketball player had to share with the mag:

On what lies ahead for him: “People are always saying, ‘He’s only started twenty-five games, there’s so many uncertainties.’ And I agree. I totally agree. I don’t know how my next season’s going to turn out. The things that I struggled with before last year, I’m going to struggle with next year—there’s that learning process. Just because you have x amount of good games doesn’t mean that you have drastically improved as a player. It just means that what you could do is finally being shown. But I have to get better.”

On stereotypes and sports: “There’s a lot of perceptions and stereotypes of Asian-Americans that are out there today, and the fact that I’m Asian-American makes it harder to believe, even crazier, more unexpected. I’m going to have to play well for a longer period of time for certain people to believe it, because I’m Asian. And that’s just the reality of it.”

On the New York Knicks fans: “You can’t ask for a city or a fan base to embrace somebody more than they embraced me. I know it’s kind of silly to talk about it with only two years under my belt in the league, but going in before free agency, I was like, ‘I want to play in front of these fans for the rest of my career.’ I really did. I really wanted to play in front of the Madison Square Garden fans for the rest of my career, because they’re just unbelievable.”

Jeremy Lin: LINsanity Beating Kobe Bryant!

Jeremy Lin takes the sports world by storm scoring 38 points, as his New York Knicks defeated Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers, 92-85, at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Friday (February 10).

The 23-year-old Harvard educated NBA basketball player has exploded on social media (including tons of puns)- trending on Twitter and showing up all over Facebook. LINsanity has been coined, as well as Lin-ning and All we do is Lin, Lin, Lin! Celebs came out for the game including Ben Stiller, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Spike Lee and Justin Tuck of the Super Bowl Champion New York Giants. Jeremy has also drawn comparisons to Tim Tebow – not only for their newfound success, but their faith as well. Looks like Jeremy has found fans already in Rainn Wilson, Shane West, Sherri Shepherd and Spike Lee!

Jeremy recently did a video (while in between NBA teams) with Youtube star Ryan Higa (aka nigahiga), called “How to Get into Harvard”! Looks like studying actually pays off!
