Martin Landau died earlier this month at the age of 89 and now more details about his death have been revealed.

The Oscar-winning actor’s cause of death was hyopvolemic shock, which is when the body loses a massive amount of blood.

Martin‘s death certificate also lists “metabolic acidosis, intra-abdominal hemorrhage and diffuse atherosclerotic vascular disease,” according to TMZ.

Martin died on July 15 at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles after succumbing to his health issues. We continue to send our thoughts and condolences to his loved ones during this difficult time.

“We are overcome with sadness to report the death of iconic actor Martin Landau on July 15th, 2017 at 1:30pm at UCLA Medical Center, where he succumbed to unexpected complications during a short hospitalization. He had just celebrated his 89th birthday,” his rep told Just Jared in a statement earlier today.

Legendary actor Martin Landau has passed away at the age of 89, his rep confirms to Just Jared.

The 89-year-old actor starred in dozens of hits including Alfred Hitchcock‘s North by Northwest, Tim Burton‘s Ed Wood and Cleopatra, Mission: Impossible, and more.

“We are overcome with sadness to report the death of iconic actor Martin Landau on July 15th, 2017 at 1:30pm at UCLA Medical Center, where he succumbed to unexpected complications during a short hospitalization. He had just celebrated his 89th birthday,” Martin‘s rep told us.

Martin won the Academy Award back in 1994 for his work as Bela Lugosi in Ed Wood. He was also nominated for two additional Oscars.
