Mariska Hargitay: Can-Do Awards Dinner!

Mariska Hargitay hits the carpet at the 2011 Can-Do Awards Dinner on Thursday (April 7) held at NYC’s Pier Sixty at Chelsea Piers.

The 47-year-old Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star was joined by chef Mario Batali and Sarah McLachlan at the event, which is the Food Bank for New York City’s largest fundraiser of the year.

The day before, Mariska announced she and husband Peter Hermann adopted a baby girl named Amaya Josephine.

“I liked [the name Maya], but I wanted her to have the same initials as [my 4-year-old son] August,” she told People. “I thought adding the ‘A’ was so feminine. Amaya sounded so open and feminine and beautiful – just like her.”
