Benicio Del Toro Offered Villain Role in 'Star Wars: Episode VIII'

Benicio Del Toro has been offered the role of the villain in Disney and Lucasfilm’s upcoming Star Wars: Episode VIII!

The film will come after this year’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac are all expected to return for the next film. Star Wars: The Force Awakens will hit theaters on December 18 of this year.

Variety reports that a deal is reportedly far from being set, but the studio wanted an A-list actor for the villain and also met with Joaquin Phoenix.

The next Star Wars film is expected in theaters on May 26, 2017.
