UK Prime Minister David Cameron Resigns After Brexit Vote

David Cameron, the prime minister of the United Kingdom, has announced that he is resigning after the historic Brexit vote, in which the people voted to leave the European Union.

The 49-year-old British politician announced his resignation shortly after the results of the vote were revealed on Friday morning (June 24).

David‘s wife Samantha Cameron was by his side during his speech held outside of 10 Downing Street in London, England. He is also pictured inside the photo gallery while going to vote the day before.

“The British people have voted to leave the European Union and their will must be respected… We should aim to have a new prime minister in place by the start of the Conservative Party conference in October,” David said.

Cameron warned the country that leaving the EU could have a drastic effect on the economy of Britain and he has already been proven correct. The value of the pound has dropped to a 31-year low and global stock prices have plummeted.
