'American Crime Story' Renewed for Season 3, Will Focus on Gianni Versace Murder

Ryan Murphy‘s hit series American Crime Story has been renewed for a third season — even thought the second season has not even begun filming!

Word from Deadline is that when execs first read the scripts for Versace/Cunanan: American Crime Story – which will focus on serial killer Andrew Cunanan‘s murder of Gianni Versace in 1997 – they moved forward with the project immediately because they were so impressed.

Season two, which will focus on Hurricane Katrina and the aftermath, will film almost at the same time as season three.

Casting is currently underway – with an A-list actress in negotiations to play Versace‘s sister Donatella Versace.

The first season of the show – People v. O.J. Simpson – won 10 Emmys last month.
