Transparent's Candis Cayne to Guest Star on 'Grey's Anatomy'

Candis Cayne, knows for her work on Transparent and I Am Cait, is joining Grey’s Anatomy for a multi-epsisode arc in season 14.

The 46-year-old actress will play a “transgender patient who comes to Grey Sloan” for a “groundbreaking vaginoplasty surgery,” THR reports.

“[The surgery] revolutionizes the making of a vagina and we thought that was a really cool story and Candis is playing a character inspired by something we read,” Grey’s Anatomy showrunner Krista Vernoff said.

The character on the episode is inspired by Hayley Anthony, a trans woman who helped to create a new procedure for vaginoplasty surgeries with the help of the director of surgery at the Center for Transgender Medicine and Surgery at Mount Sinai, Dr. Jess Ting.
