Viola Davis & Lupita Nyong'o Will Play Mother & Daughter in 'The Woman King'

Viola Davis and Lupita Nyong’o are teaming up for a new movie – and we are beyond excited!

The two Oscar-winning actress will be playing mother and daughter in the upcoming drama The Woman King.

Based on true events, The Woman King is about “Nanisca (Viola), a general of the all-female military unit known as the Amazons, and her daughter, Nawi (Lupita), who come together to fight the French and neighboring tribes who violated their honor, enslaved their people, and threatened to destroy everything they’ve lived for.,” according to THR.

Viola won the Supporting Actress Oscar last year for her role in Fences, while Lupita won back in 2014 for her Supporting Actress role in 12 Years a Slave.
