Meet 'Wicked' Actress Kara Lindsay with These 10 Fun Facts! (Exclusive)

Kara Lindsay is a Broadway veteran who just returned to the role of Glinda in Wicked for the Los Angeles stop on the national tour!

The 33-year-old actress made her Broadway debut in 2012 while originating the role of Katherine in Newsies. She then joined the cast of Wicked on Broadway for several years and also starred in the musical Beautiful.

We caught up with Kara to learn more about her. Check out these 10 Fun Facts!

• 1. I’m from Rochester, NY and therefore I love Wegmans. My mom works at the head office in Rochester, NY. She’s worked there for 44 years!
• 2. The first musical I ever did was Pirates of Penzance at Greece Athena Middle School. I was a tapping cop… “Tarantara.” I had the time of my life!
• 3. I used to dream of being a figure skater even though I had never really stepped foot on ice. I worshiped Kristi Yamaguchi. My mother (who is a brilliant seamstress) would make me little figure skating costumes so that I could “mimic” the routines in my living room very badly and feel like an Olympic skater. What a good mom.
• 4. My sister and I have an obsession with Justin Timberlake. We just saw his Man of the Woods concert in October!
• 5. My family used to have Euchre tournaments every year during Thanksgiving weekend. It’s a card game. They’ve brought back that tradition in the past year or so. [My husband] Kevin and I have been brushing up on our card playing skills with Randy Glass and Eduardo Castro on the Disney Cruise so hopefully we can keep up with my competitive family members!

• 6. Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday. I’m one of those annoying people that listens to Christmas music starting November 1st.
• 7. I had vocal cord surgery when I was 24 to remove a cyst while touring with Little House on the Prairie the Musical (where I met my husband, Kevin). People don’t like to talk about their vocal troubles in this business for fear of being judged. But it was the worst best thing that’s happened to me. It’s allowed me to help others going through a similar situation. Dr Sulica is my savior!
• 8. I can burp on command. You’re welcome.
• 9. I went to college with Megan Hilty. She was a senior at Carnegie Mellon University when I was a freshman. The first time I saw Wicked she had gotten my mom and I house seats because she was going on for a week as the standby on Broadway. We got to see her and Idina Menzel. It was amazing!
• 10. I am a shy person underneath it all. Very. The arts brought me out of my shell and continue to inspire me to do so. To think outside of the box, to have empathy, to love deeply and to live fully.
