Andrea Martin Breaks Her Ribs, Exits Upcoming Broadway Play

Andrea Martin has left the cast of the upcoming Broadway comedy Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus after she broke her ribs during rehearsals.

The Tony-winning actress was supposed to star alongside Nathan Lane in the upcoming show, which is beginning performances this week.

Tony nominee Kristine Nielsen is taking over Andrea‘s role of Janice and Tony winner Julie White is joining the cast as Carol, the role Kristine was initially intended to play.

“I am heartbroken to have to leave the production and have tried to convince the doctor that my funny bone is stronger than my broken ribs. But regretfully I must follow the doctor’s orders. I love everyone involved in this beautiful play and will miss them profoundly. I will be cheering them on from the audience at the Booth Theatre,” Andrea said in a statement.

Preview performances begin on Saturday, March 9 and the official opening night is April 11.
