Cuba Gooding Jr. Groping Allegation Trial Postponed As Prosecutors Not Ready!

Cuba Gooding Jr. is all smiles as he makes his way out of the Manhattan Criminal Court on Wednesday afternoon (June 26) in New York City.

The Oscar-winning actor was joined by his lawyers for what was originally supposed to be the first day his trial for groping a woman in a Manhattan nightclub in early June.

Minutes into the scheduled hearing on jury selection, Deputy District Attorney Jenna Long and prosecutors from New York County D.A.’s office announced that they were still waiting for more evidence in the matter and were not ready for trial, according to Deadline.

The proclamation pushed back the trial until October 10 and Cuba Gooding Jr. walked out after a very short stint in front of the judge.

“We believe the only reason he was arrested and prosecuted was because of his celebrity status,” Gooding’s lawyer Mark Heller told assembled media outside the courthouse after the postponement was ordered on Tuesday.
