Henry Cavill in 'The Witcher' - Here's Why He Begged for the Role
Henry Cavill‘s new Netflix series The Witcher is out now and this is a role that he’s so proud to have received!
The 36-year-old actor revealed that he begged for the part of lead character Geralt of Rivia right after he learned the book series/video game was going to be turned into a TV show.
“I called my agents and said, ‘Right, I want to at least get into the room as early as possible and see if I could get this. It’s really, really important to me,” Henry said during a press conference. He called his agents every other day to find out if they had heard back about the casting process yet.
“By the time it got to the stage [when The Witcher showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich] was actually taking meetings, they said, ‘Look, you’ve gotta meet this guy, otherwise he’s gonna turn up to the door,’” Henry said.
On getting the role, he added, “It’s a dream come true. I consider myself very fortunate – I love acting anyway, but to be able to play a character who I play in my head anyway in my free time, whether it’s in the computer games or books, is a dream come true. I hope I’ve done it justice.”
