Ivan Passer Dead - 'Cutter’s Way' & 'Stalin' Director Dies at 86

Ivan Passer has sadly died.

The longtime director and teacher passed away at the age of 86 in Reno, Nevada, a friend of the family confirmed to the Associated Press on Friday (January 10).

His attorney told AP that he had been dealing with pulmonary issues.

He was considered a central figure in the Czech New Wave movement in the 1960s, making his directorial debut with 1965′s Intimate Lighting. Later on, he directed 1981′s Cutter’s Way, starring Jeff Bridges and John Heard.

He also directed 1992 HBO film Stalin, which Robert Duvall in the leading role, which won three Golden Globes.
