John Mayer Shares Hilarious Reason He Wasn't in That 'Imagine' Video

John Mayer has the best explanation for why he wasn’t a part of Gal Gadot‘s star-studded cover of John Lennon‘s “Imagine.”

The 42-year-old “New Light” singer took to Instagram on Sunday (March 22) to let fans know that “they actually asked me to be a part of this.”

“I totally misunderstood the assignment,” John said, revealing that he thought he was supposed to sing “Imagine” by Ariana Grande, from her 2019 album Sweetener.

He also shared the edited version with his clips in it.

“Am I sorry? Not even close,” John Mayer says. “But am I not sorry? Well now that’s a whole different question with a different answer – you’re damn right I’m not sorry.”

“By the way, everything Ariana sings about in this song sure sound good right about now,” he adds, reminding fans to “smile when you can, laugh when the opportunity comes up.”
