Uber Eats Buys Postmates In Multi-Billion Dollar Deal

Uber Eats and Postmates are now one!

The two food delivery apps have merged in a new deal, which saw the former purchase Postmates for a huge sum of 2.65 billion dollars.

According to Bloomberg, Uber Eats has been growing during the pandemic, but still merged after suffering with the competition and decided to strike a deal with Postmates.

Uber had also discussed buying out GrubHub as well in order to compete with the largest food delivery app, Door Dash. However, GrubHub was purchased in another deal with Just Eat Takeaway, a European company, for even more money.

Bloomberg adds that Postmates will still be run as a separate service, apart from Uber Eats.

Pierre-Dimitri Gore-Coty, Uber’s head of food delivery, will continue to run the global delivery business, the company said. Bastian Lehmann, chief executive of Postmates, will stay on during a regulatory review of the deal.
