Sherri Shepherd Undergoes Emergency Surgery, Will Be Replaced As 'Wendy Williams Show' Guest Host

Sherri Shepherd is recovering after surgery.

According to Deadline, the 53-year-old comedian, who is currently guest hosting The Wendy Williams Show, has undergone emergency surgery for appendicitis and is unable to appear on the show this week.

“Due to appendicitis, Sherri Shepherd underwent an emergency surgery yesterday. The procedure was successful and Ms. Shepherd is doing fine and resting,” her publicist told the outlet. “She is absolutely devastated that she will not be able to guest host The Wendy Williams Show today, but she is following doctors orders and expected to make a full recovery. Thank you all for understanding and respecting her privacy.”

A spokesperson for the show confirmed that Michael Rapaport will be filling in temporarily and that Sherri will hopefully be back on the talk show later in the week.

Season 13 of The Wendy Williams show was delayed after Wendy tested positive for COVID-19. Following the news of her breakthrough case, it was reported that she had been taken for psychiatric evaluation.
