Patti LuPone Goes on Rant Against Theater-Goer Who Refused to Wear a Mask

The 73-year-old Broadway superstar was filmed chastising an audience member for not properly wearing their mask during a post-show talkback.

The video subsequently went viral after it was posted to Twitter, garnering over 200,000 views as of Wednesday morning (May 11). You can see the clip here.

“Put your mask over your nose, that’s why you’re in the theater,” Patti can be heard saying at the start of the clip as the audience clapped. “That is the rule. If you don’t want to follow the rule, get the f–k out!”

The room erupted into cheers as she continued, “Who do you think you are? That you do not respect the people that are sitting around you!”

One theatergoer chimed in “We pay your salary!” to which Patti replied: “Bulls–t. Chris Harper [the play’s producer] pays my salary!”

The Tony award-winning actress was forced to miss a series of shows earlier this year after she tested positive for COVID-19.
