Eddie Redmayne Details Attending Nursing School to Prepare for 'The Good Nurse' Role

Eddie Redmayne is opening up about his new movie, The Good Nurse.

In a new interview, the 40-year-old actor talked about prepareing for his serial killer role in the upcoming Netflix thriller, revealing that he actually attended nursing school to learn what nurses do.

In the movie, Eddie plays real-life serial killer Charles Cullen – the ICU nurse who admitted to killing 29 of his patients.

In order to prepare for the role, Eddie attended nursing school for two weeks, but things didn’t go well for him.

“I was totally s–t at it, you never want me in a crisis,” Eddie joked to British GQ. “I have no grand plan, I’m just winging it.”

Along with nursing school, Eddie also watched footage of Cullen from his court appearances and his 2013 60 Minutes interview.

“There was something in his physicality that was interesting to me,” Eddie told The Associated Press. “He’s a very still man. But if you actually look close, you’ll see he’s always soothing himself. I don’t know if soothing is the right word, but touching fabrics. There’s always something moving. The guy was a horrendously damaged human being and that idea of looking for comfort was interesting to me.”

The Good Nurse, which also stars Jessica Chastain and Nnamdi Asomugha – will be released on Netflix on Wednesday, October 26. Watch the haunting trailer here!
