James Corden Accused of Plagiarizing Ricky Gervais' 2018 Joke: Watch & See the Word-for-Word Comparison (Plus, See Ricky's Reaction)
Ricky quote tweeted the Late Late Show tweet that contained the joke in question (which has since been deleted) and wrote, “the bit about the town square advert for guitar lessons is brilliant.”
He then responded to a fan who asked, “Didn’t deliver it like you though. I assume he asked to use that joke?” to which Ricky responded, “No. I reckon one of the writers ‘came up with it’ for him. I doubt he would knowingly just copy such a famous stand up routine word for word like that.” This seems to be the prevailing theory on Twitter, as many believe a writer on James‘ show must be responsible.
A fan then asked why Ricky deleted the tweet, to which he responded, “Started to feel sorry for him 😂”
This is the second major controversial headline for James in just a matter of a few days.
No. I reckon one of the writers 'came up with it' for him. I doubt he would knowingly just copy such a famous stand up routine word for word like that.
