Jessica Chastain & Michael Shannon Recall Rigorous Vocal Training For 'George & Tammy' Miniseries
Jessica Chastain dons an eye catching dark green ensemble as she and Michael Shannon stop by the SiriusXM Studios on Monday (November 21) in Los Angeles.
The two co-stars, along with series creator Abe Sylvia, spoke with the Julia Cunningham and Jess Cagle about their new Showtime miniseries, George & Tammy, which actually started as a movie.
During another recent interview, Jessica and Michael recalled working with vocal coach Ron Browning for months, rehearsing Jones and Wynette’s top songs.
“These songs, they’re pretty deep and they’ve got some dark corners in them, and we spent a lot of time with them,” Michael shared with Vanity Fair. “In addition to learning how to sing them, I think they also kind of taught us about who the people were and the story we were telling.”
Jessica added that at the core of the series is the love story.
“I started to listen to the music and understood that they were always singing to each other,” she said. “They were both a huge part of each other’s lives.”
Jessica also added that overcoming her fear of singing live in front of a theater full of extras was “the scariest thing I’ve ever done.”
