Michael Bay Slams Report He Killed Pigeon On Set as 'False, Reckless & Defamatory'

Michael Bay is speaking out after a report claimed that he faced charges for killing a pigeon while working on a film in Italy.

If you missed it, a report by TheWrap claimed that the 57-year-old Transformers director’s production of 6 Underground resulted in the death of a pigeon when it flew into a dolly.

He denied the allegations in a quote shared by the outlet.

“I am a well-known animal lover and major animal activist,” he said, continuing to assure that “no animal involved in the production was injured or harmed. Or on any other production I’ve worked on in the past 30 years.”

However, it appears that Michael is still unhappy with the story.

Variety obtained a letter from Michael‘s attorney that was directed at TheWrap.

Michael referred to the story as “false, reckless and defamatory.” Meanwhile, his lawyer Mathew Rosengart noted that the story was both “wrong” and “harmful.”

Mathew continued, writing that his client was “never accused, much less ‘charged,’ with ‘killing’ an animal.”

Does Michael face a charge in Italy? Mathew said yes. However, the charge “concerns whether, in his capacity as the film’s director, Mr. Bay failed to properly supervise crew members (whom he did not even have the ability to hire) responsible for handling the animals on set.”

He continued, saying they had “vigorously defended” Michael against that charge and that he refused to settle.

If you missed it, Michael reacted to a headline-grabbing moment last year.
