Taylor Kinney Taking Leave of Absence from 'Chicago Fire,' Script Rewrites Expected to Happen

Taylor Kinney will be taking a leave of absence from Chicago Fire.

A source told Deadline that the 41-year-old actor is taking time off from the show to deal with a “personal matter.”

Taylor plays Lieutenant Kelly Severide on the long-running NBC series, which is currently in its 11th season. He is one of the only original stars who still remains on the show.

News of Taylor‘s leave of absence was given to the cast and crew on early Friday morning (January 20) before it went public.

“It is likely that future scripts will have to be rewritten to accommodate Kinney’s absence,” Deadline reports.

It’s not clear when or if Taylor will return to the show.

A fan-favorite star was killed off of Chicago Fire earlier this season.
