Phil explained that he lost 25 pounds, according to Golf Digest.

“I needed something different, and I’m having a lot of fun having three teammates and having a different energy and a fun environment,” he said about the decision to change up his routine and lose the weight. “I want to play and compete at that level. And I’m going to figure it out.”

The star said that he “stopped eating food,” calling it “a big help” to the process. While it’s unclear exactly what he meant by that, the outlet suggested that he previously partook in intermittent fasting and sometimes went five days at a time without eating.

His new diet plan led to an unexpected side effect: the loss of muscle mass.

“So I had to start lifting, and I’ve been lifting and slowly have been getting my speed and strength back to where I need it to be,” Phil explained.

Last year Phil was suspended by the PGA Tour. Find out why.
