Jane Fonda Names the Director Who Tried to Sleep With Her

Jane Fonda made an appearance on Watch What Happens Live! alongside two of her Book Club: The Next Chapter co-stars Candace Bergen and Mary Steenburgen, and she played Plead the Fifth with host Andy Cohen.

First, she was asked which movie she should have won an Oscar for but didn’t. She responded with her 1981 hit film On Golden Pond, which she starred in with her dad Henry Fonda.

Next, she was to name “one man in Hollywood” who tried to “pick her up.” She actually named a name.

Jane named French director René Clément, who she worked with on 1964′s Joy House.

“He wanted to go to bed with me because he said the character had to have an orgasm in the movie and he needed to see what my orgasms were like,” she said. He was 51 at the time and she was 27. “He said it in French and I pretended I didn’t understand. I have stories for you kid, but we don’t have time.”

Jane also recently shared that her very famous co-star never apologized to her after an incident on set.
