Treat Williams' Fatal Motorcycle Accident is Still An 'Active Investigation'

An active investigation is still ongoing following the tragic passing of Treat Williams.

If you missed the sad news, the 71-year-old actor died after sustaining injuries during a motorcycle accident in Vermont.

In a new report, via People, police have stated that they are still investigating what happened.

According to a press released from the local police, the accident occurred in the late afternoon and Treat was hit by a car who was turning left and did not see him on his motorcycle before the collision.

Treat was wearing a helmet at the time, but was “unable to avoid a collision and was thrown from his motorcycle” and he sustained “critical injuries” before being airlifted to a hospital in Albany, New York. Upon his arrival, he was pronounced dead.

In a new update, Vermont State Police Lt. Steven Coote, the Station Commander of the Shaftsbury Barracks, said that the accident is “still an active investigation. We are less than 24 hours into the investigation so we are still working through a lot of things with our partners.”

The Vermont State Police Crash Reconstruction Team were using “tools and technologies to gather more information about the crash,” he added.

Following his passing, many of Treat‘s Hallmark and Everwood co-stars, and more friends shared tributes.
