Sarah Hyland Looks Back at Her First Dinner Date with Wells Adams: 'The First Man to Cook for Me'

Sarah Hyland is reflecting on her romance with Wells Adams.

The 32-year-old Modern Family actress and the 39-year-old Bachelor in Paradise star are set to appear on a new episode of the Shondaland Audio podcast The Flakey Biscuit, which is set to air on Aug. 15.

People writes that during their interview, the couple discussed their first date and Sarah revealed that Wells was the “first man” to cook for her.

Host Bryan Ford prepare the same food from their first date and Wells explained why the meal is still “nostalgic” for them.

“When we first started dating, I remember I would fly out from Nashville to Los Angeles, and I cooked for [Sarah] and made [her] … shrimp tacos one night and my famous skirt steak recipe tacos,” he explained.

Wells shared that Sarah asked him about his “death row meal”, declaring that hers would be Wells‘ tacos.

“[It] was very honorable,” Wells added.

“At the time, our relationship was in secret, like, we didn’t release that information, and she was also going through some health issues, she had just gotten a kidney transplant,” Wells continued. Sarah noted, “I was in quarantine, so I couldn’t leave the house because my immune system was so, so very low.”

“When we first started dating, it’s not like we could go out to restaurants, and it’s not like we had a first date at a restaurant. Our first meal together was at my house in Studio City. He came and visited and made us shrimp tacos,” she continued.

“It was funny because I lived in Nashville for 12 years, and there were a couple of years when I lived with my sister … and I remember we did the shrimp tacos and my sister texted me, ‘You’re not that slick. I know what you’re doing. You made your shrimp tacos’ … ’cause I think Sarah had posted something like, ‘This is what I’m eating tonight,’ ” Wells said.

Sarah said that they had a “wonderful night” and added, “He had cooked for me, and I never had a man cook for me before, so it was really special. And obviously, I love tacos, and he was just so good at making them.”

Wells and Sarah started dating in 2017, and he popped the question in 2019. The original wedding was postponed due to the pandemic and the couple finally said “I do” during an outdoor ceremony at Sunstone Winery last year near Santa Barbara, Calif.
