Kevin Costner's Ex Christine Makes a Case for Increased Child Support While in Court

Kevin Costner‘s ex Christine Baumgartner attempted to make a case for increasing the actor’s child support payments while in court on Thursday (August 31).

Earlier this week it was reported that she was asking for $175,057 a month from Kevin to care for their three children. That would have been a $46,000 increase from what the courts previously appointed.

Her team presented a new number and explained why they felt it was warranted.

People noted that Christine‘s lawyer John Rydell presented a lower amount of child support that they’d accept – $161,592. They claimed that Kevin brought in an average of $19,248,467 over the last two years.

Assuming he was earning more than $1.6 million a month and that the parents maintained 50/50 custody, Christine should theoretically be entitled to $175,057. It’s not clear why they settled on the reduced request.

Either way, they made it clear that more funds would be needed.

John told the court that the children were so accustomed to their lavish lifestyle that it’s “in their DNA at this point.” In fact, Christine argued that the funds would not be enough to equal the lifestyle the children were used to.

“$175,057 per month will not be sufficient to replicate Kevin’s lifestyle, but it will be sufficient to allow her to provide a lifestyle for the children which is relatively comparable,” court documents read.

The couple filed for divorce after 18 years of marriage in May 2023. Christine recently revealed if Kevin‘s hit show Yellowstone attributed to the split.

They met for a deposition earlier this month, and we’ve got the details from that.
