Saoirse Ronan wants to try her hand at comedy!

The 29-year-old actress opened up about her desire to star in a comedy movie during an interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK.

A four-time Oscar nominee, Saoirse is best known for her roles in dramas such as Lady Bird, Little Women, and Brooklyn.

Having not yet delved into the comedy genre in her career thus far, Saoirse mentioned the 2011 film Bridesmaids as the type of project she would be keen to lead.

“I would love to do something modern and funny,” she said. “But to be able to do comedy well requires so much skill and musicality. I don’t necessarily think I have that yet — although as I’ve got older, I am more comfortable and confident to try.”

Saoirse was one of several actors slated for a cameo appearance in Greta Gerwig‘s hit summer comedy Barbie, however, a scheduling conflict got in the way.

Saoirse will have to wait a bit longer for her first comedy role, but there’s no doubt that the talented actress is up to the task!
