James Corden addresses the senseless and tragic Orlando massacre at the beginning of the 2016 Tony Awards held at the Beacon Theatre on Sunday (June 12) in New York City.

“All around the world, people are trying to come to terms with the horrific events that took place in Orlando this morning. On behalf of the whole theater community and every people in this room, our hearts go out to all of those affected by this atrocity,” James said. “All we can say is you’re not on your own right now. Your tragedy is our tragedy. Theater is a place where every race, creed, sexuality and gender is equal, is embraced, and is loved. Hate will never win. Together, we have to make sure of that. Tonight’s show stands as a symbol and celebration of that principle.”

Fifty were left dead when a shooter opened fire at a gay nightclub in Florida on Saturday (June 11). It is the biggest mass shooting in American history.

The 35-year-old actress was joined on the red carpet by her Blackbird co-star Jeff Daniels with his wife Kathleen. Both Michelle and Jeff are nominated this evening for their work in the play!

Neil Patrick Harris and his husband David Burtka walk the red carpet at the 2016 Tony Awards held at the Beacon Theatre on Sunday (June 12) in New York City.

The guys both wore gray ribbons in honor of the victims of the Orlando shooting earlier in the day.

Neil was seen with a shaved head at the event. He recently shaved his head for his role as Count Olaf in the Netflix series A Series of Unfortunate Events.

Just the other night, Neil celebrated his birthday a little early by visiting New York’s hot new bar Beetle House, which is themed around the movies of Tim Burton. See a photo of the couple with the bar’s owners below!

The 36-year-old singer was joined at the event by Jessie Mueller, the star of her Broadway musical Waitress, and Keri Russell, who starred in the film version.

Also in attendance was the show’s other star Christopher Fitzgerald with his wife Jessica Stone.

Sara is nominated tonight for Best Original Score for writing the music and lyrics while Jessie and Christopher are both nominated for their acting work. Keri will be presenting during the show.

Carole King, who Jessie played in the Broadway musical Beautiful and who Sara sang with at a recent Tony Awards, also hit the red carpet!
