Dr. Anthony Fauci Undergoes Surgery to Remove Polyp on Vocal Cord

Dr. Anthony Fauci, who has been in the headlines throughout the Coronavirus pandemic due to him being the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, underwent surgery on Thursday (August 20) to remove a polyp on his vocal cord.

The 79-year-old doctor – who has been the face of the White House’s Coronavirus Task Force – is now out of surgery, CNN reports.

Dr Anthony Fauci had an operation today to remove a polyp on his vocal cord. He had general anesthesia and texted me after to let me know he was doing ok. Doctors have advised him to curtail his talking for a while to allow his vocal cords to recover,” CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta tweeted.

The 56-year-old actor earned the nomination in the guest actor category for his work playing Dr. Anthony Fauci during an SNL cold open. Brad actually won an Emmy years ago for guest-starring on Friends.

Dr. Fauci Throws First Pitch on MLB Opening Day, Completely Misses (Video)

Dr. Anthony Fauci throws the ceremonial first pitch prior to the opening game of the 2020 MLB Season on Thursday (July 23) at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C.

The opening day game was played between the New York Yankees and the Washington Nationals and no fans will be in the crowd at games this season.

Fauci received some assistance from Nationals pitcher Sean Doolittle while getting ready to throw out the first pitch, which didn’t go anywhere near home plate.

If you didn’t know, Fauci is the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, a role he has held since 1984. He serves on the White House’s coronavirus task force and he is helping in the fight against the virus.

Fauci grew up in Brooklyn as a fan of the Yankees, but he is now a Nationals fan as he lives in D.C.

It was recently reported that an MLB team will likely be changing their name.

Dr. Anthony Fauci In 'Modified' Quarantine After Possible Virus Exposure

Dr. Anthony Fauci is going into self-isolation.

The 79-year-old director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases revealed that he is going into a “modified” self-quarantine after coming in contact with the White House staffer who recently tested positive for the virus.

Dr. Fauci‘s version of self-isolation entails him working from home with a mask on for the next 14 days and might go into his office only if needed.

Fauci said he made “low-risk” contact with the staffer, therefore won’t go full quarantine. Dr. Fauci also revealed that he is currently negative for the virus.

Last week, it was revealed that Vice President Mike Pence‘s press secretary, Katie Miller had tested positive. President Donald Trump‘s personal valet also tested positive for the virus.

Dr. Fauci Reacts to Brad Pitt Playing Him on 'SNL'

It was Dr. Anthony Fauci‘s wish for Brad Pitt to play him on Saturday Night Live and now he’s reacting to the dream coming true!

The 79-year-old physician, who is the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, thinks that Brad did a “great job.”

“I think he did great. I mean, I’m a great fan of Brad Pitt and that’s the reason why when people ask me who I would like to play me I mention Brad Pitt,” he said in an interview with Telemundo’s Un Nuevo Dia.

Fauci added, “He’s one of my favorite actors. I think he did a great job.”

“I think he showed that he is really a class guy when at the end he took off his hair and thanked me and all of the health care workers. So, not only is he a really great actor but he is actually a classy person,” he added. “Everything he said on SNL is what’s going on. He did a pretty good job of putting everything together.”

Brad Pitt Portrays Dr. Anthony Fauci in 'Saturday Night Live' At Home Cold Open - Watch!

Dr. Anthony Fauci must be so happy!

After Dr. Fauci said he wants Brad Pitt to portray him on Saturday Night Live, the 56-year-old actor played the doctor while opening SNL: At Home Edition on Saturday (April 25).

During the cold open, Brad as Fauci addressed President Trump‘s misinformation, including saying that they’ll be a vaccine for the virus “relatively soon.”

“Relative to the entire history of Earth?” Brad as Fauci said. “Sure, the vaccine is going to come real fast. But if you were to tell a friend, ‘I’ll be over relatively soon’ and then showed up a year and a half later, well, your friend may be relatively pissed off.”

At the end of the sketch, Brad took off his wig and thanked the real Dr. Fauci for his “calm and clarity during this unnerving time.” He also thanked the medical workers, first responders and their families.
