DaBaby was arrested on Thursday afternoon (January 7) during a shopping spree in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The 29-year-old rapper was at multiple stores with three other men and someone inside a store called the cops to report that they were carrying weapons.

Just as DaBaby and his crew were about to drive away, the police surrounded the car. They searched the vehicle and found a gun.

Everyone in the car was detained, but TMZ reports that DaBaby is the only one being booked. Carrying a loaded firearm is a misdemeanor.

Almost exactly one year ago, DaBaby was arrested for a separate charge. A couple weeks after that, he was caught up in another controversy after being spotted on camera while allegedly assaulting someone inside a hotel.

24kGoldn has released a new song!

The 20-year-old rapper just dropped his latest single “Coco,” which features fellow rapper DaBaby.

“Oh my God, why is shawty tryna test me? / Too turnt up in the back of the jetstream (Yeah)” 24kGoldn raps. “Can’t be cuffed, but she tryin’ to arrest me / Lyin’ to impress me, dyin’ to forget me”

DaBaby‘s brother has sadly died at 34.

Glenn Johnson, the older brother of the 28-year-old rapper, passed away after sustaining a gunshot wound, police confirmed to Billboard on Wednesday (November 4).

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department of North Carolina said in a statement that police officers responded to a call on Tuesday (Nov. 3) at about 1:39 p.m. regarding an assault with a deadly weapon. When they arrived, police found a male, identified as Glenn, who “sustained a gunshot wound.” He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“This incident is currently classified as a death investigation,” the police said in the statement.

The Mecklenburg Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that body is with their office, via Billboard.

DaBaby updated his Instagram bio to read “LONG LIVE BY BROTHER” and quoted a line in his Instagram Story about his brother from his song, “Intro.”

“My brother be thinkin’ that we don’t love him and let him struggle like we ain’t family / Like I won’t give up all I got to see you happy,” he declares in the song.

“I would’ve gave up all I had to see you happy,” he wrote. He also posted a video urging his followers to “check on your people.”

Dua Lipa is back with a new version of her song, “Levitating”!

The “Don’t Start Now” superstar dropped the DaBaby-assisted version of the song on Friday (October 2).

The new version of “Levitating” comes with a futuristic art-deco styled video inspired by a Studio 54 aesthetic inside of an illuminated elevator, and is part of a partnership between Dua Lipa and TikTok: TikTok users were called on to create original content ideas for the official video, and resulted in 150K video submissions and over 300M challenge views.

The clip sees crowdsourced ideas such as makeup looks, original dance moves and even TikTokers themselves dancing in the video.

The video is directed by Warren Fu, known for his work with artists like Daft Punk, Mark Ronson and The 1975.

DaBaby performs on top of police car while appearing at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards, which aired on Sunday (August 30).

The 28-year-old rapper paid tribute to the Black Lives Matter movement and gave a nod to the police brutality protests during his performance.

DaBaby performed a medley of his songs “Peep Hole,” “Blind,” and “Rockstar” while the dance group Jabbawockeez joined him on stage.

During the performance, he was seen in the back of a police car driven by two officers in face masks. The performance ended with DaBaby engulfed in flames while on top of the cop car.

DaBaby is nominated for five awards tonight included Artist of the Year, Best Hip Hop Video for “Bop” and Song of the Summer for “Rockstar.”

The Reel Goats-directed video comes just as DaBaby earns his first No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100. He also released a Black Lives Matter Remix amid global protests against systemic racism and police brutality.

“ROCKSTAR” is featured on DaBaby‘s Blame It On Baby, which hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

“Coming out with Blame It on Baby and still having the listeners locked in and them having more patience to accept different types of music, I’m in a beautiful position…it’s our obligation as artists to feed them what they want,” he told Billboard of his chart success.

Camila Cabello has released a remix of her song “My Oh My” featuring DaBaby and Gunna!

“My Oh My” is a song that was featured as a digital-only track on Camila‘s sophomore album Romance, one month after the album was released.

DaBaby was an original artist on the song now Gunna has been added for the remix!

Camila took to Instagram before the release of the remix and wrote this note: “something I’m reminding myself today: we are all so caught up in the future, in our goals, in to do lists, in who we need to become, in what we want to achieve or do or even feel in the future, but life is only ever NOW. this moment. this is it. this is life. what happened is gone forever, and what’s going to happen isn’t ours right now. today I’m reminding myself look around and take in the fullness of this moment, and be thankful for the little things, and be thankful to have this ticket to this party, because it’s a miracle that everything happened the way it did so that I could even experience this right now.
