Ekaterina Karaglanova, a Russian Instagram star, was murdered last week and now her ex-boyfriend has reportedly confessed to killing her.

The 24-year-old influencer’s body was found dead in a suitcase, stabbed “at least five times in the neck and chest.”

Maxim Gareyev admitted to the murder and agreed to cooperate with the investigation. He also apologized to Ekaterina‘s parents and said he was “ashamed” of what he did. The suspect has been charged with murder, but he hasn’t submitted a formal plea yet, according to Fox News.

The influencer, who had more than 90,000 followers on Instagram, was found dead in her apartment in Moscow on Friday (July 26), according to The Independent.

Ekaterina‘s family called her landlord to request access to her apartment after they hadn’t heard from her in days. Her body was found stuffed in a suitcase and sitting in a hallway in her apartment. There were two stab wounds to her neck.

There are reports that Ekaterina had just entered a new relationship and her possible new boyfriend was reportedly seen entering the building days earlier. CCTV footage reportedly showed a man entering the apartment and leaving hours later with a suitcase and wearing gloves.
