Pride Month is more than halfway over, but we’re still celebrating all sorts of LGBTQ+ art! That means that we’ve been playing music from some of our favorite queer hitmakers on repeat.

It seems like the ideal time to recommend a queer artist to a friend or fellow reader by letting them know which one you consider to be the best.

Nowadays, we live in an era where so many musicians are open about their sexuality. Think of Hayley Kiyoko (known to many as Lesbian Jesus) and Lil Nas X (who continues to push boundaries every time he releases a new project).

They’re slaying the game, in part thanks to the groundbreaking work of others who came before them. Take Elton John and Melissa Etheridge, for example.

That’s still barely scratching the surface of the incredible pool of talented queer musicians who have graced us with solid-gold hits over the years. The list isn’t complete without the likes of Adam Lambert, Fletcher, Troye Sivan, Janelle Monae, Lady Gaga, Kim Petras, Sam Smith and so many others.

There’s so many artists, and we put together a poll so you could tell us who you consider to be the ultimate LGBTQ+ musician!

Gia Woods is one of the most exciting artists on the rise, and we want our Just Jared readers to get to know her even better.

The 23-year-old Los Angeles-born queer Persian singer has carved out her own lane in the music industry, beginning with her bold debut single, 2016′s “Only a Girl,” which found her coming out to the world, including her close friends and family.

Today (October 9), Gia is sharing her debut EP Cut Season, a collection of eight tracks, including “Hungry” and “All I Know,” following the end of a four-year relationship and the loss of her father that “sum up all of the reasons she needed to dispose of not only the toxic people she had in her life, but also the cycles she had within herself: egos, naivety, self-sabotage.”

We’re not the only ones taking notice of Gia Woods, either: she was recently selected as a Savage X Fenty ambassador, and also featured in Calvin Klein‘s Pride collection.

Get to know Gia Woods with these 10 Fun Facts, and check out the Cut Season EP…

  • 1. English isn’t my first language, Farsi is. I didn’t learn English until 2nd grade. It took me a minute to get the hang of it.
  • 2. I came out to my family through my first music video. I’m still not sure if they believe it.
  • 3. I’m Persian but I was born and raised in LA. I’ve lived in LA my whole life.
  • 4. I’m a Gemini to my core, like it’s actually scary how perfectly I fit the Gemini description. I was never one to believe in astrology completely but over time I’ve definitely been won over.
  • 5. I have 3 half siblings but I’m technically an only child.

Gia Woods Premieres 'One Big Party' Music Video - Watch Here!

Gia Woods keeps the bops coming with the premiere of her brand new single “One Big Party,” and it’s accompanying music video!

The track is the fourth single that the Los Angeles-based singer-songstress has released since February, following “Keep On Coming,” “New Girlfriend” and “Jump The Fence.”

“The song is called ‘One Big Party,’ because, for me, life seems like one big party, and everyone is just trying to distract themselves from themselves, all the time,” Gia told Billboard. “That’s what drinking, smoking, and even some relationships are: distractions. Things can be really exciting at first, but eventually you can become dissatisfied, and in the end you’re left with only yourself. Remember, distractions won’t make you happy; you make you happy, and in the end you are what you have.”

Gia Woods Drops Steamy 'Keep On Coming' Music Video!

Gia Woods takes us to the bedroom in the just released music video for her latest single “Keep On Coming,” and you can watch it right here!

The track is the third single that the Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter has released since February, following “New Girlfriend” and “Jump The Fence.”

“I wrote it specifically about a person who I kept bumping into and realizing that their body ‘keeps on coming’ — meaning I’ve never formally met this person, but for some reason, I’m supposed to know them,” Gia told Paper. “The video plays off the highs and lows of infatuation. Those beginning stages where you can’t get someone out of your head, and everywhere you turn there’s something there to remind you of them.”

Gia‘s single “Keep On Coming” is also available to stream on Spotify and iTunes now!
