However, Aly Michalka and AJ Michalka have something to say about that, and according to them, they were offered the roles of Hannah and her best friend, Lilly, first!
In honor of Hannah Montana‘s 15th anniversary on Wednesday (March 24), the 28-year-old singer sent the 31-year-old Jonas Brothers singer and the 24-year-old Game of Thrones actress a huge flower arrangement in the shape of a huge star.
“HOLY HANNAH MONTANA!!! THANK YOU @mileycyrus WE LOVE IT! THIS IS EPIC!!” Joe wrote while sharing a video on her Instagram Story showing off the arrangement, while Hannah‘s song “Best of Both Worlds” played in the background.
Sophie re-post Joe‘s video, while adding, “THANK U HANNAH WE đź’ś U.”
Along with the flower arrangement, Miley also sent the couple a handwritten card, while sweetly calling the couple’s 8-month-old daughter Willa “little miss Hannah Montana.”
“To Joe & Sophie! It was so sweet of you to name your daughter after me! Sending all my love to little miss Hannah Montana! Love, Hannah Montana,” Miley wrote.
Miley and Joe have been longtime friends. Miley famously dated his younger brother Nick Jonas back when they were teenagers, and all three Jonas Brothers appeared on Hannah Montana back in the day.
The 28-year-old “Midnight Sky” singer shared a sweet handwritten note on social media on Wednesday (March 24) to honor her alter ego Hannah Montana with a heartfelt message on the 15th anniversary of the series.
“We had an equal exchange in which you provided a superlative amount of fame in return for the anonymity I could gift to you. But a lot has changed since then. You were like a rocket that flew me to the moon + never brought me back down,” she wrote.
“I am indebted not only to you Hannah but to any + everyone who believed in me from the beginning. You have all my loyalty and the deepest appreciation until the end,” including “Disneys entire team, all fellow cast members, special guests, crew, agents + managers. ESPECIALLY my mommy who took me to every lesson + audition even when it required leaving town or making a cross-country move which my siblings so selflessly underwent.”
“Nice to hear from you @MileyCyrus. It’s only been a decade,” Hannah Montana wrote back on the show’s official account.
Miley recently opened up about how playing the character led to an identity crisis.
Miley Cyrus is opening up about the role that shot her to superstardom.
The 28-year-old “Wrecking Ball” singer got candid about her days at Disney Channel with the hugely successful Hannah Montana series in an interview with Rolling Stone.
“I had to evolve because Hannah was larger than life, larger than me. I felt like I was never going to amount to the success of Hannah Montana. That’s how Lil Nas X actually knew of my dad [Billy Ray Cyrus]. He grew up watching Hannah Montana and said, ‘I want to do a song with Robby Ray,’” she revealed.
“That’s literally what happened. Being a young queer kid’s idol that could turn out to be a Lil Nas X and create a whole identity for themselves off being inspired from watching me growing up. Or I hear artists like Troye Sivan say he felt more comfortable with his sexuality when I came out with ‘My Heart Beats for Love,’” she continued.
“When my peers are having these experiences and accepting themselves because of something that I demonstrated while they were a kid, that’s when I go, ‘S–t, I f–king am Hannah Montana.”
“Really, Hannah Montana was not a character. The concept of the show, it’s me. I’ve had to really come to terms with that and not be third-person about it,” she went on to say.
The 37-year-old Glow actress opened up in a video interview with Collider about her appearance on the show as Nina, who appeared during the first season. Nina was the girl who Rico payed to pretend to like him in the episode “It’s My Party, and I’ll Lie if I Want To”.
“Working on Hannah Montana was the perfect first job coming out of theater school because it shoots with a live studio audience,” Alison shared. “It was the only show I’ve ever done with a studio audience.”
She added that the huge popularity that encompassed the show hadn’t hit quite yet during season one.
“I couldn’t be more comfortable on a show,” Alison recalled before talking just about how her audition went. “I remember taking a big swing in my audition and it didn’t call for it. I went in and did this very broad Long Island accent, and they called me back, and did it again.”
Alison added that after she got the job, the director told her of her performance that they “loved it all, but lose the accent.”
