Here’s what the 40-year-old 9-1-1 actress had to say…

On how losing her mother and talking to her kids about the grandmother they’ll never meet spurred an idea, writing a children’s book: “There are not a lot of books out there that in a childlike way teach children about deceased grandparents. I think that’s an important book because people are having children later in life.”

On turning 40: “A lot of my friends have already turned 40, and in watching them and my husband, there’s this settling in with who you are and being OK with it that’s lovely. I like this version of me because I have two amazing children and a great husband. I am exactly where I hoped I would be.”

On being away from her young children for her new show 9-1-1:
“The first four episodes, there was a lot of trying to be present and then constantly checking for the world to be falling apart around me. A couple of days went long, so I wasn’t home to put them to bed. It was my first time not doing that, so [my] lip would quiver, and there were some tears.”

Betty White is still receiving awards in her late 90s!

The legendary 97-year-old actress was presented with a Brandon Tartikoff Legacy Award on Wednesday (January 23) and her former co-star Jennifer Love Hewitt presented it to her.

Betty, who turned 97 last week, worked with Jennifer on the 2011 made-for-television movie The Lost Valentine.

Named in honor of Brandon Tartikoff, one of the most esteemed programmers in the history of television, the Award was created to acknowledge a select group of television professionals who have demonstrated the highest degree of excellence in their field.

“Brandon, the wonderful part, he was not only a fine executive, but whenever his name came up, somewhere in the room you heard, ‘He’s a nice guy. He’s a special guy.’ And that doesn’t always happen with everybody, but it certainly did with Brandon,” Betty said.

When the 39-year-old actress and the 96-year-old entertainer first became friends, the duo went out for a night of pizza and vodka!

“We went out and I was like ‘I’m going on a date with Betty White!’ It was the most nervous date I’ve ever been on in my life,” Jennifer explained.

She continued to say that both of them got a little too drunk and Betty almost ended up falling in the bushes!

“I was like ‘Oh my God! I am like the bodyguard of a national treasure! You have got to snap it together and don’t kill Betty White!” she joked.

Jennifer Love Hewitt has the most incredible stories about Michael Jackson!

The 39-year-old actress opened up about the late pop star, who she met while filming an LA Gear commercial together when she was just 10!

Jennifer explained that he taught her some dance moves and she got to pet chimpanzee Bubbles. When he heard she was going to a charity event after the shoot, he sent a generous donation in her name.

“He stopped at the end of the day [and] he was like ‘You don’t know how important it is that you’re doing something that’s special and important for other people.’ And he was like ‘Never lose that. Always be that person,’” Jennifer said.

She also added that she and her mom attended one of Michael‘s Thanksgiving parties at Neverland Ranch, which included a ferris wheel and a candy shop that had freshly baked chocolate-chip cookies!

The actress was just 19-years-old while walking the carpet with Carson, then 25.

“In honor of the VMA red carpet tonight. This was my VMA moment. Someone said that hair was cute. We are no longer friends lol. Wow that was a long time ago. #throwback #vmaredcarpet #ifeeloldaf,” Jennifer wrote on Instagram.

The annual party is one of the most anticipated days of the year for the women in Hollywood and some of the other stars in attendance included Jennifer Love Hewitt, Christina Hendricks, Laverne Cox, Kaley Cuoco, and Scandal‘s Bellamy Young and Darby Stanchfield.

Celebs got to shop for stylish new clothing and receive luxurious pampering, and they also got to indulge in some delicious sweets.

Don Julio minis were popular with the guests on the hot summer afternoon and the women loved sipping sparkling wine from female-owned brand Le Grand Courtage. Chrissy and Kristen were both seen leaving the event with iced beverages from Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. Bellamy loved the Suja wellness shots and tried two flavors. Health-Ade Kombucha and TAJA Coconut Water, another female-owned brand, were also on-hand.

Among the yummy treats were Sprinkles’ new layer cakes and cookies, Garrett Popcorn flown in specially from Chicago, chocolate brand TCHO (a favorite of Gabrielle), Cake Bams, Jeni’s Ice Cream (a favorite of Laverne), OLLY bars, Uptime energy drink, and Sidecar Doughnuts.

The afternoon kicked off with catering by Phresh, including passed tea sandwiches. Chop’t flew in salad dressings from NYC for the lavish salad bar, which also included Simply7 chips and gimMe Organics Seaweed as unique salad toppings.
