A Third Movie About Prince Harry & Meghan Markle on Lifetime Is Coming & It Will Be About This!

A third movie based on the lives of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is on its way from Lifetime.

The network announced today that they’ve greenlit a new television movie called Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace, which continues the franchise that started in 2018.

Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace “reveals what really happened inside the palace that drove Harry and Meghan to leave everything behind in order to make a future for themselves and their son Archie.”

Lifetime adds that the movie will “detail Meghan’s growing isolation and sadness, their disappointment that ‘The Firm’ was not defending them against the press’s attacks and Harry’s fear that history would repeat itself and he would not be able to protect his wife and son from the same forces that caused his mother’s untimely death.”

Harry & Meghan: Escaping The Palace will be directed by Menhaj Huda, who also directed the first two.

Parisa Fitz-Henley and Murray Fraser; and Tiffany Smith and Charlie Field portrayed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in the first two movies, respectively.

Here's How Lifetime Pulled Off Kissing Scenes in Their Christmas Movies During COVID

We’re officially in the season of Lifetime and Hallmark holiday movies, with almost every weekend leading up to the big day full of heartfelt, adorable, and cheesy romance movies about the holiday.

Most viewers who always look forward to these movies for the season were a little afraid the networks weren’t going to be able to pull it off with not only production, but also how their actors were supposed to seal their romance with a kiss during a pandemic.

In a new series of interviews with TheWrap, Lifetime‘s Amy Winter, the head of programming at the network revealed that they figured out a way to be safe and still have those important kissing scenes in the movies.

“Everybody was incredibly concerned about, as we were figuring it out, making sure that we were following the best possible guidelines to keep people safe,” she shared. “We all sat down, even before we got started, saying, how is anybody even going to kiss in these movies, given the circumstances?”

Amy added that the “greatest, oddest solution I’ve seen so far is people kissing through plexiglass that can be removed in post, which is absolutely phenomenal.”

One movie in particular, called Christmas Ever After, used the plexiglass between stars Ali Stroker and Daniel di Tomasso. In addition to the plexiglass, the actors and crew also wore a face mask and shield when they were on set.

Christmas Ever After premieres on December 6 on Lifetime.

Married Couple Ben Lewis & Blake Lee to Star in Lifetime's First LGBTQ Holiday Movie

Ben Lewis and Blake Lee, who are a real-life married couple, will be starring in Lifetime’s first holiday movie to revolve around an LGBTQ storyline.

The Christmas Setup will “follow Hugo (Lewis), a New York lawyer who heads to Milwaukee with his best friend Madelyn (GLOW‘s Ellen Wong) to spend the holidays with his mom Kate (Fran Drescher), who is also in charge of the local Christmas celebrations. Ever the matchmaker, Kate arranges for Hugo to run into Patrick (Lee), a high school friend and secret crush of Hugo’s who has recently returned after a successful stint in Silicon Valley.”

The synopsis, via TV Line, continues, “As they enjoy the local holiday festivities together, Hugo and Patrick’s attraction to each other is undeniable and it looks as though Kate’s Santa-style matchmaking is a success. But as Hugo receives word of a big promotion requiring a move to London, he must decide what is most important to him.”

The movie was announced last month and was applauded for being the network’s first movie with a same sex couple as the lead roles.

Ben is best known for his role as William Clayton on Arrow and for playing “Other Scott” in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. He actually met Blake in the bathroom at that movie’s premiere and they got married in 2016.

Blake has appeared on shows like Parks and Recreation, Mixology, and Wisdom of the Crowd.

Lifetime Orders First LGBTQ+ Movie For Holiday Season Called 'The Christmas Set-Up'

Lifetime has announced that they will be airing a holiday movie with a same sex couple in the lead roles.

The network revealed the news during the virtual Television Critics Association summer press tour this week.

Titled The Christmas Set-Up, the movie is currently being cast.

The movie centers on Hugo, a corporate lawyer in New York who heads home to Milwaukee for the holidays, where his mother arranges for him to run into his secret high school crush, Patrick. As their mutual attraction grows, Hugo is faced with a decision to accept a promotion in London or remain in Milwaukee.

“We are thrilled to continue our legacy of creating a holiday destination that is welcoming to all at Lifetime,” Amy Winter, executive vp and head of programming at Lifetime and LMN, shared in a statement. “With more new movies than any one cable network for streamer, I couldn’t be prouder of the incredible talent joining us in front of, and behind the camera, on these new holiday movies.”

Lifetime’s rival Hallmark Channel has been under fire for their lack of LGBTQ+ stories in their own movies, and after revealing their own holiday movie lineup last week, issued a statement about currently working on diverse and inclusive stories.

“Diversity and inclusion is a top priority for us and we look forward to making some exciting programming announcements in the coming months, including announcements about projects featuring LGBTQ storylines, characters, and actors. We are committed to creating a Hallmark experience where everyone feels welcome,” George Zaralidis, Crown Media’s VP of Publicity, shared.

If you missed it, Lifetime just renewed one of its shows for a whopping six seasons!
