Anya Taylor-Joy looked so gorgeous at the premiere of her new movie, EMMA., held at the DGA Theater in Los Angeles on Tuesday night (February 18).

The 23-year-old actress joined co-stars Bill Nighy, Mia Goth, and Johnny Flynn, and director Autumn de Wilde on the red carpet.

Just the day before, Anya was spotted in a giant pink and green bow dress while heading to an interview in New York City.

“Underneath all the corsets and the bonnets and the whole shebang, these are real people, and they’re hot messes most of the time,” Anya recently explained of the movie on GMA. “We wanted to create a hot mess Emma.”

She added, “I think it’s the fact that period drama, it seems like it happened such a long time ago that people almost treat it like science fiction. We wanted to remind people that the words are actually really funny.”

There were no other stars who could play Emma and Harriet in EMMA. than Anya Taylor-Joy and Mia Goth, director Autumn de Wilde says.

In an interview with The Mirror, the filmmaker revealed that both stars were part of her pitch for the film from the start.

“Anya was part of my pitch and I didn’t want to be in a situation where I was being pressured to make her more likeable, more likeable, more likeable,” she shared. “I wanted an actress who could portray someone who is struggling to be good or is misguided in her attempts to be good, is extremely selfish and cruel at times.”

Autumn added, “I needed an actor that could create a sympathetic figure – the Emma in themselves and the Emmas that they’ve known.”

“Mia Goth was a perfect Harriet,” she also shared, saying that “she was part of my pitch as well.”

Autumn shared, “I liked the way that Mia and Anya can both play awkward and bloom in front of your eyes and both characters have to have moments where they’re completely lovable in different ways.”

Julianne Moore and Lucy Liu sit front row at the Tory Burch Fall Winter 2020 Fashion Show held at Sotheby’s on Sunday afternoon (February 9) in New York City.

The two actresses were joined at the fashion presentation by Mia Goth, Bel Powley, and model Adwoa Aboah.

Netflix’s Cheer stars Gabi Butler and Lexi Brumback were also seen at the show over the weekend, next to Larsen Thompson, Charlotte D’Alessio, and Jin Lee.

That same night, Julianne joined her daughter, Liv, to watch the Oscars at Julius’s, one of NYC’s oldest gay bars.

The upcoming film, out on February 21st, centers on the title matchmaker from the Jane Austen novel.

This Emma is “a restless queen bee without rivals in her sleepy little town and must adventure through misguided matches and romantic missteps to find the love that has been there all along.”

While chatting with Vogue, Anya and Johnny revealed that at one point in the movie, Emma gets a nosebleed and Anya got a nosebleed too.

“It was a real nosebleed!” Johnny shared. “It was in the script, but she got a nosebleed on cue.”

The stars were both in attendance at the Vanity Fair, Amazon Studios and Audi Pre-Golden Globes Party on Saturday night (January 4) at San Vincente Bungalows in West Hollywood, Calif.

Awkwafina is nominated for Best Actress – Musical or Comedy for her role in The Farewell. She was joined by The Farewell director Lulu Wang at the party.

Anya Taylor-Joy gets in a fiesty little argument with Johnny Flynn in the full trailer for their new movie, EMMA.

The new visual, based on Jane Austen‘s beloved comedy, comes just after the first teaser a few weeks ago.

Here’s a synopsis for the film: “Handsome, clever, and rich, Emma Woodhouse is a restless queen bee without rivals in her sleepy little town. In this glittering satire of social class and the pain of growing up, Emma must adventure through misguided matches and romantic missteps to find the love that has been there all along.”

Directed by Autumn de Wilde, the film also stars Bill Nighy, Mia Goth, Miranda Hart, Josh O’Connor, Callum Turner, Rupert Graves, Gemma Whelan, Amber Anderson, Tanya Reynolds and Connor Swindells.

EMMA. is set to hit theaters in a limited release on February 21, 2020.
