Neve Campbell Was Apprehensive To Join 'Scream 5' For This Reason

Neve Campbell is opening up about her decision to return for the upcoming Scream movie, after starring in the original movies more than a decade ago.

The 47-year-old actress spoke about her return to the franchise and how she was on the fence about it.

“I’m excited to get back to it. I’m excited to see Courteney [Cox] and David [Arquette]. I’m excited to see this young new cast. I’m excited to work with these new directors,” Neve shared while appearing on The Talk this week.

Neve does admit she “had been apprehensive because, you know, our director, our incredible director Wes Craven passed away, and I wasn’t sure about doing a film without him.”

“But the new directors came to me with this beautiful letter saying that they’ve become directors and love film because of these films, and because of Wes, and they really want to be true to his story and his journey with these films. So, I was really happy to hear that,” she added.

Neve Campbell Officially Returning for 'Scream 5'

It’s official – Sidney Prescott is coming back for Scream 5!

It has been announced that Neve Campbell is reprising her role for the upcoming slasher film.

The 46-year-old actress played the franchise’s leading lady in all four of Wes Craven’s Scream movies, and will be returning for the fifth installment, directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett from filmmaking group Radio Silence.

“After spending time speaking with Radio Silence, they have shown such love, respect and admiration for Wes Craven and all that he’s created in the Scream franchise,” Neve shared with Bloody Disgusting. “I am beyond excited to step back into the role of Sidney Prescott and return to Woodsboro.”

Neve will be returning alongside fellow veterans David Arquette and Courteney Cox who’ll reprise their respective roles as Dewey Riley and Gale Weathers. Jack Quaid, Melissa Barrera, and Jenna Ortega will also be appearing in Scream 5.

Scream 5 is set to be released on January 14, 2022.

Sabrina Carpenter's Movie 'Clouds' Is Going Directly to Disney+

Clouds, the upcoming movie from director Justin Baldoni and starring Sabrina Carpenter, will go directly to Disney+ instead of getting a theatrical release.

The streaming service has bought the rights to the inspirational drama, marking the first narrative film acquisition for the Disney+ Global Content team.

Clouds is the true story of Zach Sobiech, a musically gifted 17-year old living with a rare bone cancer (osteosarcoma). The film follows Zach’s journey over the course of his senior year as he navigates the complexities of love, friendship, family and leaving behind a musical legacy.

The film stars newcomer Fin Argus as Zach Sobiech, Sabrina as his best friend and bandmate Sammy, Madison Iseman as Zach’s girlfriend Amy, and Thomas Everett Scott and Neve Campbell as his parents, Laura and Rob.

“I fell in love with Zach’s infectious joy and spirit seven years ago when I made a short documentary about his life. Just before he passed, I made a promise to him that I would do whatever I could to make sure the world heard his music,” Justin said in a statement. “In the age of COVID-19, with the future of the theatre business up in the air, it was extremely important to me to ensure Zach’s message of hope, faith and triumph in the face of adversity truly had the opportunity to touch as many hearts around the world as possible. That’s why I’m so excited to be partnering with Disney+ for my first film under our Wayfarer Studios banner, as it’s the perfect home and platform to bring Zach’s incredible story to the world.”

Clouds will be released on Disney+ in the fall.

During the interview, Neve was asked about the upcoming fifth movie in the long-running series, set to be directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.

“They’ve come to me and we’re having conversations. It’s a little hard at the moment because of COVID to know when that’ll happen and hopefully we can see eye to eye on all the elements that have to come into place for it to happen,” she revealed.

“I originally had been really apprehensive about doing another Scream without Wes [Craven] because he was such a genius and he is the reason they are what they are, but the directors have come to me with such a great appreciation for Wes’s work, and they really want to honor it. That meant a lot to me.”

“Hopefully we’ll be able to do it,” she went on to say.
