Riz Ahmed Delivers Moving Spoken Word Peformance of 'Sour Times' on 'The Tonight Show' - Watch Here!

Riz Ahmed made his return to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday evening (August 14) and took the opportunity to perform a special spoken word rendition of his song “Sour Times” in wake of the white supremacist rally that occurred over the weekend in Charlottesville.

The 34-year-old Star Wars star, who is also one-half of the hip-hop duo Swet Shop Boys with Heems, had more to say than just movie chit chat. At the end of his conversation with host Jimmy, Riz asked for a microphone, walked to the performance area, and delivered a three-minute a cappella.

“In light of all the current events that are going on, it just seems like we’re living in really, really divided times and it really hurts,” Riz said, noting that he wrote the “Sour Times” about 10 years ago and that every year he hopes it will become irrelevant, but it just keeps becoming more relevant. “It’s my attempt to get behind the headlines and work out where all this extremism is coming from.”
