Jennifer Lopez Asked Ruth Bader Ginsburg for the Secret to a Happy Marriage

Jennifer Lopez is getting ready for married life!

The 50-year-old entertainer is preparing for her upcoming wedding to Alex Rodriguez and she asked Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg for advice.

While speaking at the 2019 Library of Congress National Book Festival on Saturday (August 31), the 86-year-old Justice revealed that Jennifer recently called her up for a meeting.

“She said she would like to meet me and introduce her fiancé Alex Rodriguez,” Ruth said in a clip from The Hill, adding that they “came to chambers and we had a very nice visit.”

“She mostly wanted to ask if I had any secret about a happy marriage,” Ruth shared. “But now A-Rod is traveling with her to concerts all over the world.”

Ruth then revealed the advice she shared with Jennifer, which is the same advice she was given by her mother-in-law on her wedding day: “‘It helps sometimes to be a little deaf.’”

Ruth was married to husband Marty Ginsburg for over 50 years before he died of cancer in 2010.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg Undergoes Treatment for Pancreatic Cancer

Ruth Bader Ginsburg has undergone treatment for pancreatic cancer.

The 86-year-old Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court was treated in New York City, the Supreme Court announced on Friday (August 23).

“The tumor was treated definitively and there is no evidence of disease elsewhere in the body,” the court said (via CNN).

A three-week treatment of stereotactic ablative radiation therapy started on August 5, the court revealed. A tumor was originally detected following a blood test in July, and a biopsy was also done.

“The Justice tolerated treatment well,” the court added. “No further treatment is needed at this time.”

This marks Ruth Bader Ginsburg‘s fourth time battling cancer. In 1999, she underwent surgery for colon cancer; in 2009, she was treated for early stages of pancratic cancer; and in December 2018, she had surgery to remove two cancerous nodules from her left lung.

Felicity Jones Talks Playing Ruth Bader Ginsburg in 'On the Basis of Sex' Amid #MeToo Movement

Felicity Jones strikes a stunning pose on the cover of the latest issue of Net-a-Porter’s digital magazine, PorterEdit!

Here’s what the 35-year-old Rogue One: A Star Wars Story actress had to share with the mag:

On why her new movie On the Basis of Sex feels timely in the current political climate: “We were filming it in the midst of the beginning of the #MeToo movement, and since then, with everything that’s happened with the Supreme Court, [Ruth Bader Ginsburg's] story feels even more pertinent.”

On being more conscious of the roles she chooses and being inspired by Reese Witherspoon producing Big Little Lies: “When you start out, you’re just trying to pay the rent, so you’re taking whatever comes along. But in the last few years, I’ve felt particularly inspired by people like Reese Witherspoon producing Big Little Lies, which shifted the cultural landscape. In many ways, I believe it allowed the #MeToo movement to have such a hold. […] We actors are circus performers, we’re carnival folk. But we can do it with a sense of what is relevant. Storytelling can shift collective consciousness.”

On how starring in Rogue One has changed her public profile:Star Wars definitely shifted things. I never set out to be famous; it’s been a by-product of doing something that I love. I want to put relevant and entertaining stories out into the world, but this is the other side of it. And I think you just have to enjoy it – you can’t turn around and start complaining.”
