The 1975′s Matty Healy is taking an opportunity to apologize for his recent controversies.
During the band’s concert at the Hollywood Bowl on Monday night (October 2), Matty spent time speaking to the crowd in between songs, and had a message for those critical of his past actions, such as his racist jokes about Ice Spice on a podcast in January and an admission that he watches a form of pornographic that depicts the brutalization of Black women.

The 1975 are going on an indefinite hiatus.
Matty Healy made the announcement in front of the crowd at their Sacramento, Calif. show on Tuesday (September 26).
“We love coming to this place and playing for you guys whenever we have the chance, and it’s wonderful you’re all here,” he said, via Pitchfork.
“After this tour we will be going on an indefinite hiatus of shows so it’s wonderful to have you guys with us tonight,” he continued.
The tour dates run through a Seattle gig on December 2.
It is unclear if the band is planning on taking a break from touring or pausing entirely, and a rep did not return a request for comment to Rolling Stone.
Last month, it was revealed that the band was being sued by Malaysia’s Good Vibes Festival organizers after Matty kissed bandmate Ross on stage, as a protest to the country’s anti-LGBTQ laws. Get the details.

Matty Healy is taking a stand.
On Friday (July 21), the 34-year-old performer allegedly got his band, The 1975, kicked out of a festival after sharing his thoughts on the Malaysian government mid-show.
“Alright, we got to go, we just got banned from Kuala Lumpur,” he told concertgoers, per a video taken by a fan at the show. “See ya later.” The band then grabbed their instruments and left the stage.

Matty Healy remains romantically linked to Taylor Swift. However, the hitmaker shared a viral moment with a male security guard during one of his recent shows with The 1975.
The 34-year-old hitmaker kissed the security guard while onstage performing at the 2023 NorthSide Festival on Friday (June 2) in Eskelunden, Denmark.
