Meghan Markle‘s dad Thomas Markle has completed his heart surgery.

The 36-year-old soon-to-be royal‘s father has successfully undergone the surgery as of Wednesday (May 16), TMZ reports.

The outlet recently spoke with Thomas, and he reportedly appeared alert and coherent, saying he believed that doctors had implanted three stents in his blood vessels.

He was scheduled to head into the OR at 7:30 AM.

The surgery was needed after Thomas experienced significant damage to his heart due to a heart attack he had about one week ago.

Thomas told the outlet on Tuesday, “They [doctors] will go in and clear blockage, repair damage and put a stent where it is needed.”

Also on Tuesday, Thomas revealed that he had a change of heart and did want to walk his daughter down the aisle, though he didn’t think it was possible because of the surgery.

Thomas is reportedly still in the hospital, and it’s unclear when he’ll be released.

Meghan Markle‘s father has confirmed that he definitely will not be at the royal wedding, despite his hopes to attend after previously saying he was skipping the event.

Thomas Markle had a heart attack a little over a week ago and then days later, it was revealed that he had staged paparazzi photos. He told the media that he would no longer attend the wedding to not embarrass his daughter and her fiance Prince Harry.

Then, Thomas said he had a change of heart and was trying to get cleared by his doctors so he could attend the wedding and “be a part of history.”

Now, Thomas says he will be having surgery on Wednesday morning (May 16) at 7:30am and is not able to attend the wedding. He told TMZ, They [doctors] will go in and clear blockage, repair damage and put a stent where it is needed.”

Thomas Markle is now having a change of heart…he wants to fly to England to walk Meghan Markle down the aisle at her wedding to Prince Harry on Saturday (May 19).

If you don’t know, Meghan‘s father was embroiled in controversy when it was discovered he staged paparazzi photos. He then suffered a heart attack, and is now back in the hospital where doctors are concerned and said his heart has been “seriously damaged.”

Thomas told TMZ that Meghan called and texted him on Monday (May 14) and said she was concerned for his health. She added that she loves him and is not upset about the staged photos.

“I hate the idea of missing one of the greatest moments in history and walking my daughter down the aisle,” Thomas said in the latest update. Thomas is trying to get doctors to release him and he’s willing to “risk his health and fly to England” to be at Meghan‘s wedding. “Of course I’d walk her down the aisle. This is a historic moment. I’d like to be a part of history.”

This week, it was revealed that Thomas Markle, Meghan Markle‘s father, would no longer be attending the Royal Wedding after suffering a heart attack amid his staged photo controversy.

Now, a report has emerged saying the Palace was totally caught off guard by Thomas‘ decision, as elaborate plans were made for him ahead of his job of walking his daughter down the aisle.

The frontrunner to walk Meghan down the aisle is now her mother.

Meghan Markle‘s half-sister Samantha Grant is taking the blame for their dad Thomas Markle‘s staged paparazzi photo scandal.

Samantha made the revelation on Monday (May 14) as Thomas announced that he will no longer attend Meghan‘s wedding to Prince Harry next weekend due to his emotional state.

“I have to say, I am entirely the culprit,” Meghan‘s estranged sibling Samantha, who is not invited to the wedding, told the ITV talk show Loose Women. “As we know the media can take very unflattering photographs of people on their casual days and blow it way out of proportion.”

“I said, ‘You know, the world has no idea you’re getting in shape, doing healthy things. They don’t photograph you buying vegetables and PH water. They photograph you as unflattering ways as they can,’” she continued. “I said, ‘Really, you need to show the world that you’re getting in shape and doing great healthy things.’ So, I suggested it.”

“There’s a lot of scrutiny that it was money motivated; it was not,” she added. “It was my suggestion that to benefit him and to benefit the royal family, everyone look good and they depict you as you are: in shape and doing healthy things.”

“Let me clarify,” she finished. “He’s 73, which makes him a bit more fragile. He’s a quiet man. I feel that the media have unfairly preyed on him. He’s really been admirable about laying low and not speaking out, with all due respect. I merely wanted him to be seen in a respectable light…”

The palace had no comment on the alleged set-up.

Thomas Markle, the father of soon-to-be royal Meghan Markle, is heading back to the hospital for chest pains, just hours after he revealed he will no longer attend his daughter’s wedding.

Thomas suffered a heart attack six days ago and he told TMZ that his new pains are cause by the emotional state he is in right now.

It was revealed this week that Thomas had staged photos with a paparazzi agency and possibly benefited monetarily from the photos. He says he will not attend the royal wedding so that he does not embarrass the couple.

Thomas‘ oldest daughter Samantha, who is not invited to the wedding, has been throwing shade at Meghan lately.

“I’ve been popping Valium for the pain, especially when I hear about my oldest daughter,” he told TMZ. Thomas is worried he might suffer another heart attack.

The Palace has released a statement on the situation surrounding Meghan Markle‘s father, Thomas Markle, skipping the Royal Wedding this Saturday (May 19).

If you missed it, Thomas suffered a heart attack, and checked himself out of the hospital with the intent of going to the wedding. However, the backlash surrounding the staged photos he took caused him to ultimately decide to skip the wedding.

“This is a deeply personal moment for Ms. Markle in the days before her wedding. She and Prince Harry ask again for understanding and respect to be extended to Mr. Markle in this difficult situation,” the statement from the Palace read (via The Guardian).
