On the forgotten history of LGBTQ people: “Having a history would be very helpful, but that’s been robbed from us because of shame. Because if you dared write your history even 30 years ago you were considered a felon. You were considered mentally ill. It needs to be excavated. It needs to be popularised. It needs to be put out there.”

On his relationship with UK diving champion Tom Daley, whom he has been married to for seven months: “We’ve been together now almost five years and I’m still discovering new things about him and I feel really lucky about that. There’s a constant renewal to our relationship and I’ve never experienced anything like it. It’s really exciting. I mean, we’re certainly not two perfect people. We have fights. Although when we fight, we just get very, very quiet. And then we know we’re in trouble, one or the other! We’re certainly not doing it for public approval.”

On activism in the age of Trump: “It’s a mistake to wall ourselves off as LGBTQ people from our brothers and sisters in the civil rights movement and from people who pray to different gods. Those bridges need to be built as well and that’s how you keep people like Trump from being elected. If you subdivide people, we empower the Trumps – period! It’s our responsibility not to get lost in despair. It’s our responsibility to be energised by the horrific rollbacks we see happening.”

The 23-year-old British diver and the 43-year-old screenwriter and director stepped out for the Vodafone Passes Launch held at The Bankside Vaults on Wednesday (November 1) in London, England.

They coordinated their outfits, which featured a black, brown, and white color scheme. Tom also sported a pop of color on his t-shirt.

In a recent interview, Tom shared that he plans on getting into TV after he retires from diving.

“I am having a lot of fun with my YouTube channel and I would really like to expand that and hope in the future I can be a TV presenter, which is something I really enjoy doing., Tom said. “Who knows what I would present? But it would fun to do something, I just like talking to people, meeting people.”

Tom continued: “I also like traveling, eating, cooking and anything to do with adrenaline and any kind of bungee jumping, sky diving – not the sort of stuff I can do while diving. That kind of stuff I am all over.”

Tom and Dustin, who goes by Lance with his friends and family, have pledged that the proceeds generated from that video will be donated to the LGBT+ Switchboard and It Gets Better campaigns.

“Our honeymoon feels like the perfect time to finally share our magical day,” the 23-year-old Olympic diver and the 43-year-old filmmaker wrote in the caption of the video.

“We know our wedding was only possible thanks to the brave work of countless people for generations before us, so in that tradition, we will donate any revenue from this video to the ‘LGBT+ Switchboard’ and ‘It Gets Better’ in hopes of making things even better for future generations,” they added.

Tom and Dustin, who goes by Lance with his friends and family, tied the knot back in May at Bovey Castle Hotel in Devon, England.
