Brad Pitt Is Swift Through Security

Brad Pitt is seen being escorted by a security guard at the Los Angeles International Airport to catch a flight out of town on Saturday (February 28).

The 45-year-old actor was recently in and out of New York to see the Broadway musical The Little Mermaid with Angie and the children.

Brad reportedly received a 10lb solid dark chocolate figurine in the shape of his face as a consolation for losing out on an Oscar. Deodorant brand AXE sent the statue and said, “We still feel your performance deserves a statue, one that’s a bit sweeter.”

Brad went to LA before taking an “international” flight? Hmmm…I bet he went back to LA to go to the bank were he has secretly stored his old wedding ring. Yeah…that’s it! He went to get the ring, have it resized…and now he’s going to Europe to propose to X! That’s GOT to be it…there’s simply no other reason that a man with a house in Nice, a movie filming in Berlin and business partners in Berlin could be taking an international flight…

Passing Through, i would much prefer calling maniston Y then X,
    .
X keeps her sounding relevant (if you don’t know reason she is called that here). juliette or even paltry can be X but maniston is certainly a Y for Y oh Y did he ever go out with her in first place!. Or H for how on earth is good too.
    .
    +++++++++++++++++
    .
You can call her whatever you want. I was just explaining to whoever it was that complained how she got to be called “X” and why it’s not a reference to her being his ex. The ho was a mathematical placeholder in Brad’s life for 6 1/2 years until true love came knocking on the door. That and it takes much less time to type out than “Fug Btich”.

    .
I don’t like to refer to Jennifer as X, It keeps her forever connected to Brad. Note BBT or JLM are never referred to as Angie’s X.. That is because all parties have moved on.. Jennifer has several other relationships since Brad. Most people do not even talk or see their X spouse. Especially there were no children conceived. So their connection is broken. It should be that way too when comments are made about them.
    .
    +++++++++++++++++++
    .
Once again – X IS NOT CALLED X BECAUSE SHE’S HIS EX. SHE’S CALLED X BECAUSE IN MATH, X, Y AND Z ARE PLACEHOLDERS FOR THE REAL THING, the real number/solution/answer. In other words, X was marking the spot until Brad got his head out of his ass and realized there was more to life than tanning, getting high, working out AND settling for a business “merger” with a friend instead of a soul deep, love-of-my-life life partner. She could have been Y, but not Z because that’s Z’s nickname.
    .
Call her whatever you want. BDJ’s come up with some lovely names – Whiny and Baby Jane. Someone else came up with Baby Pain. I’m calling her X for the reason above and because it’s 1 character and that’s all the time I’m willing to waste typing out a name for the btich.

Fascinating film enthrals from start to finish

(10)THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON with Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett, Julia Ormond and Taraji P Henson. Directed by David Fincher. (The Bridge, Walmer Park, The Boardwalk). Reviewed by Leon Muston

AS Hurricane Katrina closes in on the city of New Orleans, an old woman named Daisy (Cate Blanchett) lies dying in a hospital.

Her daughter Carolyn (Julia Ormond) is at her bedside, and Daisy asks her to read to her from the diary of a lifelong friend, Benjamin Button.

It‘s a simple start to what turns out to be one of the most complicated and fascinating stories seen on screen in many years, the amazing tale of a person who is born with all the characteristics of a dying man in his mid ‘80s and instead of growing older as everyone else does, he appears to grow younger.

This is done through a combination of excellent special effects and make-up, but also a career defining performance from Brad Pitt, who with the exception of the earliest and final scenes of the film, plays Benjamin‘s entire life span.

Pitt‘s performance is outstanding, the best work he‘s ever done, while Blanchett is also superb, as is the supporting cast.

It‘s extremely long at more than two and a half hours, but it‘s such a fascinating story, you‘ll enjoy every minute.

‘Button’ still tops at foreign box office

“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” sewed up its fourth straight weekend victory at a moderate post-Oscar foreign box office with $13.4 million at 5,140 playdates in 61 markets.

“Button” has now cumed $176.2 million overseas — $51 million ahead of the domestic total — as it continues to generate decent holdover biz for Warner Bros. Japan’s become the top foreign market for “Button” with a fourth frame declining only 13% to $1.8 million for a $20.7 million cume.

Madea’ tops ‘Jonas Brothers’ for a second box office win

    Mar 1, 2009, 01:55 PM | by Nicole Sperling

Madeagoesjail_l Jonas Brothers proved this weekend that they are no Miley Cyrus. The teen pop stars’ 3-D concert film, Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience, opened in twice as many theaters as last year’s Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus Best of Both Worlds but grossed a scant $12.7 million at the box office — less than half of Cyrus’ bow. Jonas still managed to pull in a solid average of $10,000 but grossed far less than what most prognosticators were predicting. It also wasn’t strong enough to best Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes to Jail, which won its second weekend in a row with $16.5 million. Madea’s total now stands at $64.9 million.

‘Button’ still tops at foreign box office
‘Slumdog’ a winner with Brit audiences
    By DAVE MCNARY
    -
“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” sewed up its fourth straight weekend victory at a moderate post-Oscar foreign box office with $13.4 million at 5,140 playdates in 61 markets.
The frame also saw “Slumdog Millionaire” stay golden overseas after winning Best Picture, particularly in the UK where it finished first in its eighth weekend with $2.3 million to lift its Brit cume to an eye-popping $37 million and its foreign cume to about $75 million. “Slumdog” also launched impressively in Spain with a first-place $2.5 million, edging the opening of “The Pink Panther 2″, and jumped 62% in its second Mexican frame to $1 million.

“The Reader,” taking advantage of Kate Winslet’s Oscar win, scored a first-place launch in Germany with $3.2 million at 540. “Milk,” with Sean Penn’s Best Actor victory, saw a 34% hike to $1.5 million at 575 in 26 markets for an $11 million foreign cume.

Though it mostly struck out during awards season, Clint Eastwood’s “Gran Torino” drove its way to solid results in Warner’s first major expansion with $8.3 million at 1,115 in 10 markets, delivering an impressive $7,444 per location average. France led the way with a $5 million launch while the U.K.’s expanded run brought in $1.9 million — the top weekends for an Eastwood pic in those markets.

Tom Cruise’s “Valkyrie” continued to generate respectable offshore coin with $7.6 million at 4,500 in 57 markets, led by a $3.6 million first-place Chinese launch. The WW2 thriller, handled mostly by Fox overseas, has cumed $93.2 million outside the United States — $11 million ahead of the domestic total.

Disney’s “Bolt” fetched decent family coin with $7.2 million at 3,600 in 31 markets — mostly from France with $2.2 million and the U.K. with $1.9 million, both in their fourth frame. “Bolt” has totaled $166.5 million outside the United States, $52 million ahead of the domestic total.

Sony’s “The Pink Panther 2″ saw more moderate biz with $6.8 million at 3,150 in 56 markets, bringing the foreign cume to $22.7 million — $10 million behind the domestic total. Studio’s “The International” gunned down $4.4 million at 1,765 in 29 markets for a $10.8 million cume early in its run.

Four other pics topped $4 million: Disney’s “Confesssions of a Shopaholic” with $4.9 million at 1,350 in 10 markets, led by a $2 million Italian launch; Sony’s “Underworld: Rise of the Lycans” with $4.1 million at 1,180 in three dozen markets for a foreign cume of $29.4 million; Paramount’s “Hotel for Dogs” with $4 million at 2,231 in 31 territories for a $29 million cume; and Uni’s “The Unborn” with $4 million at 897 in 14 markets.

Fox also saw “Australia” chip in with $1.6 million at 1,200, mostly from a $1.4 million Japanese launch, to lift the foreign cume to $151.3 million — more than triple the domestic take.

The international markets should see a jolt next weekend as Par goes day-and-date with “Watchmen” in most territories.

TEHRAN (AFP) – Top US film actress Annette Bening, in Iran as part of a Hollywood delegation, said on Sunday she hoped their presence in the country can help to kick-start talks between arch-foes Washington and Tehran.

“I hope that we can be a bridge to open a dialogue between the two countries”, Bening, wearing a black traditional hejab and headscarf, told reporters.

She is part of a team of film-makers and actors from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), the organisation which stages the annual Oscars, that is currently on a week-long visit to the Islamic republic.

The delegation is on a private initiative to stage workshops with their Iranian counterparts, a rarity in a country where the authorities brand the United States the “Great Satan.”

The Hollywood delegation includes AMPAS president Sid Ganis, former president Frank Pierson, and top producer William Horberg.

They were invited to Tehran by the Iranian Alliance of Motion Pictures for a series of workshops. Iranian participants include top actors Fatemeh Motamed Arya, Homayoun Ershadi, Habib Rezaei and Bahareh Rahnama.

Sean Penn, who won the 2009 best actor Oscar for his performance as a trailblazing gay politician in “Milk,” also visited Iran in 2005.

“It is a culture in love with cinema. With Brad Pitt. Angelina Jolie. And anything Steven Spielberg,” Penn wrote about the Iranians after his visit during which he even attended Friday prayer services in Tehran.

Changeling out on DVD and should cross 100 million worldwide

    Excellent

    WILD APPLAUSE

Changeling Director Clint Eastwood takes a good story and tells it well in this 1920s-30s period piece about a single mother (Angelina Jolie), whose child goes missing. Eventually, the authorities return a child to her, but it’s the wrong child, and when she insists that the new boy isn’t her son, they mount a campaign of persecution against her. Well-acted, well-photographed and with measured but steadied forward motion throughout, this is superior entertainment. Rated R. 140 minutes. – M. LaSalle

    http://www.orlandoweekly.com/film/review.asp?rid=13216

4 1/2 stars. One of my favorite Brad Pitt’s role. Out on DVD and on-demand.

Casey Affleck, who plays Ford, has said that he wished the title could have been The Assassination of Jesse James by the Misunderstood Robert Ford, and the heavily played-up angle of celebrity obsession-turned–physical longing from Ford to Jesse is a great place to start myth-busting the falsified way history remembers both men. Dominik’s revisionist take understands that Ford’s legacy was not that of a guilt-ridden man coming to terms with his cowardice but a confused kid whose pressures from authorities to exploit his closeness with Jesse for the good of the country coincided with his frustration at not being able to be/have Jesse himself.

Pitt is at his most understated and menacing, often working without words to craft a character that breaks down the romanticized image of James as a virtuous Robin Hood, showing him at his most sadistic and tyrannical.

A flawless supporting cast of Sam Rockwell, Paul Schneider, Sam Shepard, Mary-Louise Parker and even cameos by James Carville and Nick Cave help to realize the director’s vision of reconciling the James legend with the “reality,” speculative as it may be. Eschewing John Ford’s oft-quoted advice to “print the legend,” The Assassination of Jesse James instead chooses historical accuracy, a move that could make this epic unpalatable to a mass audience. But this contemplative movie is worth your patience.

They don’t make gossip queens like they use to. Now you got Ted C, Lamey, bloggers etc etc

Before ”Access Hollywood,” ”Extra,” ”Inside Edition” or ”Entertainment Tonight,” there was Rona Barrett. It can be argued that the brassy blond with those zinger questions was the first celebrity gossip maven to bring the world of Walter Winchell and Hedda Hopper into the television age.

During her heyday in the 1970s, Barrett ruled the world of Hollywood dish and she clearly loved it.

Now, the long-retired gossip queen is back on the scene with a new DVD, ”Rona Barrett’s Hollywood: Nothing But the Truth,” in which the Hollywood veteran shares chunks of her sit-down interviews with some of Tinseltown’s hottest stars of that era.

Though she worked in an era when it was thought stars and the Hollywood press enjoyed a cozy relationship, Barrett claimed she still had to go through the usual entourage of handlers that reporters and columnists endure in 2009.

”The biggest difference is there weren’t so many layers of publicists, managers and agents back then. But I still always went through their press agents. Even for the stars who really were my friends,” Barrett said. “I didn’t like to mix work and pleasure. I would never approach an actress at a dinner party and ask for an interview — I’d call her publicist the next morning and set it up.”

As for today’s crop of stars and the seemingly endless stories about them, Barrett said she’s mostly unimpressed.

”Whether it’s Brad Pitt or Angelina [Jolie] or Jennifer Aniston or whoever, what you usually get is something about their new movie that’s just coming out or a product they’ve endorsed or something like that. As for the big tabloids — who they would never speak to — it’s mostly big headlines with great shock value but not much to the stories underneath.

”Very rarely do you see a celebrity interview today that goes into depth about the person’s real life, what they’re really like and what they do when they are not working. That’s what people want to know, and they get so little of it. … Funny, given there’s so many outlets today for this stuff.”

One thing Barrett doesn’t mind reading about stars is their charity work — ”If it’s something they are really into, like Brad Pitt and New Orleans relief,” she said.
