OlderDev Patel Gives British Airways An Indian Touch
Dev Patel adorns the new British Airways airplane with a giant tradition Indian Bindi and flower garland before its inaugural trip in London, England on Friday (September 3).
The 20-year-old Slumdog Millionaire star was joined by British Airways Chief Executive Willie Walsh as they celebrate the plane’s first trip to Mumbai, India.
Last month, Dev spoke out against the struggles that Asian actors face in Hollywood.
“Asian actors tend not to be sent Hollywood scripts that are substantial or challenging,” Dev told the Mail. “I’m likely to be offered the roles of a terrorist, cab driver and smart geek. I want to show that I have versatility.”

@mimi: ”Whiny” He’s not whining, he is stating the truth. Speaking out? ever heard of it. Asian actors barely get cast in anything, they’re stereotyped in every role and discriminated in Hollywood.
That’s the truth, just accept it.
East Indian actors are discriminated against in Bollywood by Indian producers and directors because they only want Indian thespians who look Persian and Afghani! Indians are the most self-hating people on earth! They all want to be pale skinned, blue-eyed with European features. Don’t knock Hollywood. Look at Bollywood instead.

Dev is not ugly! He looks alot better than Micheal Cera, Seth Rogen, Shia LaBeouf and Jonah Hill!!!!! And I bet none of those guys could charm a woman like Freida Pinto to fall head over heels in love with them!!
Dev is not whining…he is simply telling the truth about the roles he is being offered. Great to know that at his age he’s not going after the money and refuses to keep the stereotypes of his ethnicity alive on film!! Why should he go to Bollywood when they won’t even acknowledge the success of his girlfriend Freida Pinto because she doesn’t “fit in” or look like who they feel should be a star!

All those on here who say Dev is ugly should post their own photos. This is what is bad about the net. We can’t see how posters really look like beyond the keyboard.

Screw you Dev. Be happy that you look East-Indian and are working at all. I am an east-indian actor in Hollywood and would give my right ass-cheek and kill to be cast in anything, but because of my Persian looks they would rather hire someone who fits the American stereotype of a dark-skinned East-Indian, than hire the better actor.
Everyone in Bollywood has told me how successful I would be if I moved to Mumbai/Bombay, but guess what? I cannot because I am an American and have been unable to get legal working papers due to the Indian government’s strict stance on immigration regulations.
Hearing this from this ungrateful schmuck is not cool as I strive to put food on my table while they continue to hire him out of England, and people like me are right here struggling to make rent.
The stupid American casting directors in Hollywood never do any research and hence have zero clue that India is a big country and the skin coloring runs the entire spectrum depending on what part you are from. Someone like Dev would be just another slumside stupidaire in India.
Look at all the Bollywood stars and you’ll know what I’m talking about.

Governments and central bankers round the world have done everything they can to prop up failed lending institutions, and lending that was imprudent from the onset. We will not have a real sustainable recovery without an end to deficit spending and lots of banking institutions going bust. I find discussion about asset finance and home loans a bit meaningless. I also think the house costs have to fall a lot even now. I mean why would you want to own a home in Spain or the UK? Isn’t it much cheaper to rent? Regards, Herminia Namer
