Anne Hathaway Confirms 'Robopocalypse' Involvement!

Anne Hathaway has confirmed that she will play the female lead in the upcoming sci-fi film Robopocalypse, as long as the film moves forward into production.

“If Robopocalypse happens I will be in it” the 29-year-old actress told Empire, “and I believe it’s quite real, though you never want to hang your hat on anything.”

“Whenever I’m taking time off, I always joke to my team that I’m on vacation unless Steven Spielberg calls. And I was on vacation and [he] called. So I was like, ‘OK, put my money where my mouth is’,” Anne added.

Robopocalypse, based on Daniel H. Wilson‘s sci-fi novel, will be directed by Spielberg and is rumored to star Chris Hemsworth and Ben Whishaw.

Hmm.. I wonder if she’d be playing the Senator who’s children are targeted by Archos. She’s too old to play the 10 to 13 yo daughter of the senator and I hope she wouldn’t be cast as the full blooded Native American women or please not the other lead female who is a Black Woman in NYC. To change those character to a white women or cast Anne as one of those women when there is already a white female character in the story would be a serious misstep. I am for petessake Lurker who is a morbidly obese telephone pranster/hacker turned fat hero is already been changed to a thin hunky character. Every anti-hero in the book is gonna be changed by Spielberg into a white person even Mr. Noruma the pivotally important old Japanese man. Now I can totally see Chris Hemsworth as Cormac Wallace or Cormac’s brother but if he’s cast as the Native American Paul Blanton then I’ll scream at the top of my lungs til Spielberg stops ruining good books by making every character white.

I realize my previous comment sound very harsh regarding race and the casting of this film – but this book is very multi-ethnic and Daniel did it intentionally. He intentionally wrote minority characters as powerful survivors and eventual leaders in saving mankind for the AI. If Spielberg tampers with that and makes every character white- he missed the point of the book and the authors intentions for his story. If this were Emily Bronte or some George Sand novel being turned into a movie again I’d have no issue with every cats member being white and omitting all other ethnicities as the author didn’t include minorities in their stories.
